I think they are using cyclops at the super billiards expo for the amateurs tournament, but for the pro 10 ball tournament it says they will use aramith.
Let's just talk bottom line. I have played with the Cyclop balls at the DCC the last two years and I don't like them as they don't seem to play and react like I'm used to. At home I have a set of Brunswick Centennials, a set of Aramith and a set of original Hyatts from Albany NY. These all seem to play about the same. For cue balls I have a blue circle, a red circle, a red dot and a measles and these all play a little different due to weight. I also have a couple of ivory cue balls but I don't use them. So bottom line to me, I'm not buying any Cyclop balls and if enough people take this idea then they will either adjust the Cyclop balls to play right or they won't be selling them here in the US.
"The Cyclop seems to have less friction induced throw than the Aramith."
Yes, this is definitely one of the major problems all the Cyclops seem to have. Whether they roll straight or not.
I think it's one of the things that causes them to not react like other balls. Not at all. Not even close. They spin differently, react differently after impact.....etc......etc
You gotta work em differently around the table.
Why would slightly different playing characteristics = a problem?
They are harder and more highly polished so they play a little different. I would say they play better

Yea don't worry that the balls crack or that on the vid. link in this thread you see Corey shoot the cue ball slow at a ball and the cue balls turns so much to the left that he completely misses the ball he shot at. Then Corey and Busty both gesture about how much the cue ball curved. I'm sure Corey as you put it "just doesn't want to admit his inability to adapt", yea that's it. What a ridiculous statement.
Don't feed the trolls, they say stupid sh*t to get people riled up.

Talk about "ridiculous."
I've only heard of one cracked ball, not multiples.
Many folks have Cyclops balls and are happy with them, while some folks have sets that are fine but just don't like them because they're different, so most sets are fine.
As has been said a couple of times in this thread, no one has 100% on quality control. So there might be a few bad ones out there. Mark has offered to replace defective balls. It'll be interesting to see how many he gets returned.
Lou Figueroa
He offered to replace obviously damaged balls, not balls that simply roll off, which seems to be a much bigger problem.
hmmmm, no.
What he said was, "If a cue ball has an obvious flaw - send it. If it is a small roll off when the ball is almost stopped, there are too many variables, such as chalk or dirt, cloth pulled improperly, or other things."
I take that to mean that if it had a significant roll off it'd be replaced but not if there a minor wiggle as it comes to a stop that might be the cloth of a speck of chalk/dirt.
Either way, perhaps he'll clarify.

It can be taken to mean that way, but considering the vague wording and carefully chosen phrasing, I expect that it meant something more along the lines of "We will replace cue balls if there aren't too many claims, but once it becomes uneconomical, we can still fall back on the 'not obvious flaw' statement to deny claims and cut our losses." The Apple-esque refusal to even acknowledge that there is a problem also doesn't exactly inspire confidence.

all I want to do is identify the problem, and attempt to make adjustments.

I am confused by this post. It seems people want to scrutinize every little word and put their spin on it. No wonder people get burned out with the attitudes shown on these forums.
There was no intent to use tricky wording. Here is how it is - if you have a ball that is 'flawed' - send it to me. My goal is to help resolve any issues. Obviously I cannot fix the problem without the flawed balls in my possession.
Btw- the only object ball issues I have heard about are the 15 ball with a crack, an 8 ball with a chip, and a couple of other object balls with chips. Chips are caused by nails and similar other problems.
We are aware of a batch of cue balls that may not have been up to specifications. But if a ball is bad, it will consistently roll bad. The tv table roll offs last year were mostly caused by bad cloth pulling tension. After the problem was noticed, RKC re set the bed cloth which resolved that problem. Many cue balls do funny things the last turn. Dirt, or almost anything can look funny.
But to say just shot the cue ball and you'll see the problem is not very scientific.
So- you can complain of you can react by sending the 'flawed' items to me - I'm betting I get almost zero items. Because most if these comments are not based in fact. If you don't agree here is your chance to proof me wrong.
And please don't be suspicious-all I want to do is identify the problem, and attempt to make adjustments. I think of the these drama posters need to mellow out.
