Does anyone know of a video link of a pro missing a shot by a mile? I'm talking about an EASY shot that the pro dogged super bad. It can't be due to a skid. I'm looking for something that was legitametly missed by a mile, that we'd consider a brain fart. Thanks.

Don't know about a mile, and i don't know about links, but 3 specific shots are just jumping out at me as i type this.

Varner chowing a duck shot in the side pocket to win against Sigel where he gets a roll and leaves Sigel without a shot.
R. Luat chowed a gimme shot on the 9 to win against Earl Strickland (both of these are on the accu stats highlight tape)
And the other one, SVB chowed some simple straight in shot down the rail on a streamed Bartable tournament.
Varners bounced off the point and back out, Luat and SBV did the pocket dance and hung the ball near the hole.

I don't know about a guy firing a ball a diamond wide on a duck. Difficult shot fired wide i've seen a ton of times, but don't remember any ducks where they missed by a mile.

My favorite miss by a pro was Roberto Gomez, superman, missing the money ball in a hill hill shot against Mika. The ball bounced and stopped right in front of a pocket.

Find the super draw shot Corey made on the the 7 a couple of yers back and the subsequent miss on the 9. Who ain't done it, but i think he would agree it was harder to miss than to make!

Remembering a game between Mika and Bustamante where both missed some fairly easy shots...I mean they both missed mutiple times and Bustamante missed a close straight-in shot....really rare...the game is up on Youtube.

Also remembering the game between Earl and Oliver Ortmann in WPC?? where Oliver missed a not so hard cut shot more than half diamond...not miles...but still quite surprising.

Great post thanks for the link, I think I heard somewhere that the misses by Reyes and Kaplan were due a problem with the pocket so that may not count as a player induced miss.

I remember Archer years ago on ESPN playing Rob Saez I think? He was having a real bad day, and Archer missed 3 - 4 easy shots. If I remember correctly though he gutted it out and either closed it up at the end or even won the set.

I have matches at home of various players - SVB, Kiamco, etc. - missing almost straight in, 2 foot shots. Similar to what I do occasionally, where I'm either trying to cheat the pocket slightly to get perfect and take my eye off the ball, or simply not paying attention. Difference is I do it every week, they do it like once a year...

I just watched a match on youtube of Shane vs. Pagluyan, from InsidePool, Shane misses 2 easy shots, the last one an easy 9 playing 10-ball, both misses allowed Alex to get back into a match that SVB was dominating. Haven't finished watching (2 hours +) so don't know how it ended up...

So it happens, just very, very rarely.

1995 14.1 Maine Event - Earl Strickland vs Johnny Ervolino

Earl butchers the first open shot in the first rack, and gets punished by Johnny Ervolino with an 80+ ball run. Earl doesn't like to sit in the chair that long, and squirms.

Later on, though, Johnny's known heart condition catches up to him, and he runs out of gas.

I saw Efren miss a stop shot once about a foot straight out from the side pocket with ball in hand.

That one shot inspired me to keep playing pool. Thanks Efren.
