Hey guys,

i am sure this has been discussed numerous times already but i have to ask anyways.

What is a good video editing software, i tried using Windows Movie Maker. But it is very limited what you can do.

I Am looking to clip out a section of video that i have imported from my DV Camera.

I Have another small run i would like to post on veoh, but dont want to bore you with all the other NPR stuff on the tape as well.

What should i use?

Thanks
Steve

i've said it before, and i will continue:

virtualdub:

100% free, no 30 day trial, easy to use, hardly any bugs or crashes, can be used for basics to very cool advanced specialised effects. Have been using it for years to do all my video work. (safe a part of a big file, reduce filesize to a specific size, make slowmotions, add logo's, make special effects.)

Limited, but...

Movie Maker can do this. When playing your video there is "button" to the right of play arrow called 'split.' This can be used to remove a portion of your video.

I use Movie Maker also and it is very easy to edit out all the parts you don't want.

All the choices of video editing software depend greatly on four things.

1. The source format (what kind of camcorder)

2. The product output ( to what file type and destination will you be working)

3. The need or desire for diversity in those choices.

4. The power of your computer.

With that additional information you can make better choices.

Virtual dub is a great free choice for starters since you have nothing to loose. :)

another inexpensive option are programs like Ulead Video Studio, or Adobe Premiere Elements ( especially when working with DV footage) and another improving product is Magix Movie Edit Pro

Thanks

Hey eales,

thanks for pointing out the obvious.

I Didnt even notice the clip tool on the mini player in the program. i would have expected those to just be player controls on that.

Much rep to you!

Steve

I Am in the process of uploading the video now. i will post the link in the high run with video thread when i am done.

Even though it is not a super high run, but you have to start somewhere
