I'm looking to hit some balls a little while I'm out here. Any suggestions for places with a weekly tournament?

Thanks in advance!

Geezy peezy, what in the heck are you going to be doing in Olney, MD?

There is not much out that way as far as pool, unfortunately.

The *best* place is Champions in Virginia, Billy's place, or Big Daddy's up in Glen Burnie, Maryland.

ETA: Mike Riccaradella of Planet Pool Tour lives out in Olney. You can reach him at MIKERICC-at-AOL-dot-com. He's a really cool pool person and may be able to provide some good pool leads.

I can tell you where there's some good chow and fine spirits. Definitely go to the Olney Ale House!

JAM- thanks for the info.:) I'm here visiting my sis-in-law. Been having pool withdrawals since leaving SoCal. Will be here through Sunday. Visiting Yorktown Victory Center Museum now.

:)

JAM- I'll shoot Mike an email. The Olney Ale House sounds like fun. Might have to have make a trip out there tonight! :D

Thanks!

I can play Thursday or Friday

Abe, I have off work tomorrow and Friday if you want to play. I play at Champion Billiards in Frederick, Maryland (5205 Buckeystown Pike). They have a special from 11:00am to 5:00pm where if you buy lunch for $8.00 pool is free for 6 hours. Champions is 35 miles from Olney. Give me a call if you want to play 443-506-4179. They have good equipment...Gold Crowns.

That's a great room. Gary Allen is good peeps, as is his dad. I ran into his father not so long ago. I used to work for him when I was a pup at the original Champions in Silver Spring. They both know and *understand* pool culture. Great suggestion, Wedge! :)

Top hat in baltimore just off of 695 has a tournament every sunday, call first,if you are looking to gamble you can go down to running out billiards a little further around the 695 beltway, there is always atlease 3to10 guys there that will gamble, little to large, the number at running out is 410 284 1032.

Wedge- thank you for the offer. Friday may work best for me. Got your number down, thanks. I'll contact you.

Richiebalto- thanks for the Top Hat and running out recommendations. Sunday tourny probably wouldn't happen cuz going back home. Cheap action at Running out might be a late night option though. Thx.

Bnks- thanks for the calendar. I'll have to view it when I get to my sis' house. (Replying via Blackberry at moment).

Btw, it is very beautiful in this part of the country! Every highway traveled we're surrounded by trees and open air. Nothing like socal.

Wait until you get out in Frederick. The air actually smells sweet, if you can believe it. Maryland is one beautiful State.

If you get a chance, you should drive up to Charles Town, West Virginia. It's about a 20- to 30-minute drive from Frederick, MD, I'd imagine. Talk about beautiful country. That part of Maryland gives Olney the orange crush. And then there's West Virginia, God's country. Oh, the drive there is just so cool!

My local sources tell me all the pool peeps are going to Charles Town now to play poker, bet on the horses -- (beautiful track, by the way, and they're running) -- table games and slots. You just never know who you might run into there! ;)

I will see Gary tomorrow night. I'll tell him you said hey!!! Anything funny you want me to tell him?

Tell him Jennie says hi. He is an asset to pool in our area. We're all lucky to have him! :)

Look forward to it!

Hi Wedge- Unfortunately, I'm not going to be able to hook up for pool. So much history here to visit. I'm going to have to get my pool fix when I get back to Cali! :D

If you, JAM, bnkshot, or richiebalto are ever in Southern California, look me up (PM) and we could meet up for some pool and/or drinks.

Btw, today with my 15yr old son, we visited the Capitol, Supreme Court, Washington Monument, Air/Space Museum, WWII Memorial, Lincoln Memorial, and National Archive. We needed more time. There is so much too see and visit. My feet are killing me! Lol.

Something to share... as we walked up to the Washington Monument, my son placed his hand on the Monument and he seemed choked up. I asked what was wrong and he said, "nothing it's just the first time I've done this." I had a great time with him. :)

Thanks guys!

Best Regards,
