Hi,
My screen name is JoeyA. It's not too hard to guess that the A stands for my last name and that isn't too hard to find out what it is.

My purpose in writing is this. It is AMAZING that there are almost as many "guests" or "UNSUBSCRIBED" people visiting and reading this forum on a daily basis as there are "MEMBERS".

This is just a little information about being a member of AZ Billiards:

When you register, your contact information remains private. In fact, you can open up a yahoo email account or an anonymous email account from any of the other service providers and use that are your contact email address for the AZ FORUM CARETAKER. That way no one has your "real" email address. You can use your regular email address without fear of being inundated with undesirable emails. At least that has been my case for quite a few years.

By registering, you can enter into the discussions by replying to posts by other members or even starting your own discussion thread about the topic that interests you.

The AZ Forum members are a civil lot. That doesn't mean that there is absolutely no criticism or teasing going on because there is some of that too and it adds to the quality of the MAIN FORUM.

You can also use your subscription WHICH IS ABSOLUTELY FREE TO advertise your unwanted pool parapheneilia for sale.

The best thing about being a member of AZ Billiards MAIN FORUM is that you get to share your thoughts about pool with like-minded and not so like-minded pool enthusiasts. :) Some people are far more experienced at pool and it often shows, especially on this forum, however we all learn from one another and the lesser experienced players have their turn in the sun, as they teach the rest of us a thing or two in their own quest for knowledge and friendship.

The ladies are always welcomed here and treated with just as much respect as the guys. The only ones who get chastised are the ones who continually abuse the privilege of being a member of this fraternity/sorority? (What's the name for a fraternity that accepts member of both sexes?)

So this is just an invitation for you to REGISTER as a member. There's no cost, no obigation. Shoot, you don't even have to post although that is the main purpose behind joining. We would love to hear your thoughts and dreams about pool. (We also have another forum called NON-POOL-RELATED where you can discuss other personal interests as well as other FORUMS). You don't have to be a top player, you don't have to be a knowledgeable player you don't even have to be a regular player but you should at least enjoy pool. :D

Join AZ Billiards and help us build an even more exciting future in pool by REGISTERING today. We look forward to your first introduction.

When you subscribe make sure you post a NEW THREAD that you have just joined so we can give you the old AZ welcome shout.

On behalf of my fellow lurkers (or dedicated but mostly silent readers.. less creepy), We salute you! Thanks for the welcome.

Don't ever become a member!!!

After your first post, especially if there is a fast reply to it, you'll become addicted and will be unable to do anything productive the rest of your life. You'll be logged on day and nights, and sometimes you'll get "angry" since there is so few new posts on here since last time you checked... (2 minutes ago, normally)

My advice: keep on reading, but never start to post!!! ;)

To JoeyA: TAP TAP TAP! I think this should be made a sticky!

To Roy: You are sooo right!

You make me feel so welcome. You wouldn't happen to be one of those Wal-Mart greeters would you?

VBG. They are making me wait another 3 months because I am too young to be a greeter.

LOL! Great post. Newbies, stay away from this board. This place is more addictive than crack...;)

Nice sentiments and good post JoeyA.......but my guess would be that the vast majority of the "guests" are in fact registered members who do not bother to log in whilst browsing and only do so when they wish to actually post or check for PM's. I know I do that a lot. Anyone else?

I would like to introduce myself

Hello AZ ..I am new to the forum ..I have never picked up a pool stick before but I enjoy watching pro players like Joey A and Russ on ESPN ..:p :p

I bought a budweiser(original) stick for 50 bucks and now I'm ready to play a little bit..

My credentials ? hmmmmmmmm..Well ,I once dunked on Bill Russell FWIW..

Well, that's not at all bad credentials... but so did Pettit, several times, and he was two years *older* than Russell, rather than ten years *younger* :).

I have met quite a few AzBilliards lurkers when on the American tournament trail. It is interesting to hear why they do not desire to post.

I have a good friend in my area who reads it every day, but to my knowledge has never posted. :p

One prominent industry member told me that he reads AzBilliards every day, enjoys it a lot, but does not post because then he may feel compelled to read any and all responses to his posts, and he would not be as productive in his work life, which I totally identify with, as I am sure other AzBilliards veterns do as well. :D

I used to read many more posts on the forum than I do today. Since the forum has grown, it is not possible to read every post anymore. It would be a full-time job in and of itself! ;)

Whenever I log on, this is the only site that i feel compelled to visit without fail.....you guys are right, this really is addictive!

Good one !

I do the same thing. Only log on when I want to post. So JoeyA, I think you fail to realize most of those guests are members. You do not have to log on to partake.

I also do not log in unless I am posting. I have gone a couple of months without answering private messages. But of course I'm old & getting senile, so I have an excuse.
