Vote for Austin Murphy

These IPT matches aren't very good anyway because they are exhibitions with no real desire displayed by either player. At least that is how it has been in the first 3. That being said I will still watch if I have a wager on the match. The only viable match up I see is Foldes, who looks like a lock, and Efren. Any other match that features Gerda or Austin, wouldn't really be a good match, imo.

I don't totally disagree with your thoughts here. At this point, Earl is probably too much of a long shot now too and can be taken out of consideration. Vilmos Foldes is a lock. So we are down to a choice of Efren, Gerda or Austin as the opponent.

While Efren is the obvious choice for best skill, we get to see him all the time, and will be seeing him again in the very next challenge match. I do not want to see the same people all the time in these challenge matches, especially back to back challenge matches. I like to see different people, maybe even people that I normally would not get an opportunity to see. As much as I like Efren, I would rather have variety than to see the same player (even Efren) over and over, so I just can't vote for him for this particular match.

That leaves Gerda and Austin. I don't want to see Gerda because seeing a non top 10 female player just does not excite me for a match like this. Besides, I have seen her a hundred times on ESPN (years back when she would make the occasional TV rounds).

Austin gives us a unique opportunity to see somebody that we would not normally get to see. A chance to see a 14 year old that can hang with the big dogs. A chance to pull for an American. A chance to pull for the underdog. A chance to possibly see him pull off the upset, something he has a shot at doing. A chance to see part of the future of American pool as he is coming up, as he may very well be a future American superstar.

Considering the choices, Austin is the best choice for this particular match and will be getting my votes.

I agree with what you are saying, but I am looking at it in a different way.

I am not looking at it with my immediate self gratification in mind. I am hoping that a match involving Austin will be good for pool in the long run. Perhaps some interest by preteens could be gained by having a Foldes vs Austin match.

Austin gets all my votes.

I just gave Austin my 5 votes after reading this and the numbers didn't change at all. Either there are a ton of votes out there and my 5 didn't make a dent or the website isn't getting updated very frequently.
Good luck, Austin. You've got a lot of us pulling for you!

I am guessing the field will be cut to the top 10 soon.

Tasteless is spelled like this.

there is also a T before the A with a S following then another T..and go figure, a LESS attached to the end of it..............whoa!!!

Yes.. you are.. we have established that...I still don't get your lame ass kool aid joke...
The first time you insulted me you misspelled the word "tasteless".

I thought it was funny because you were calling me "ignorant" while misspelling a word. I still think it's funny.

Then you spell the word letter by letter and misspell it again, which makes it even funnier.

The Koolaid comment is in reference to preacher Jim Jones. I use the Koolaid "joke" when dealing with people that are followers and obviously unable to reason for themselves.

Austin plays good but enough already. His speed is way short of pro speed and imo an opportunity for any real pro to earn money in our sport should not be squandered. Give the opportunity to someone who has payed their dues.

Something is fishy. It appears that within a few hours Austin dropped way down. Here's the what the site says now.

1 Foldes, Vilmos-----18.85 %
2 Reyes, Efren-------13.53 %
3 Hofstatter, Gerda--10.40 %
4 Murphy, Austin------5.84 %

What happened?

Austin has dropped from 3rd to 6th in a matter of minutes!
I do not see how this could have happened so quickly.
Any thoughts on this?

The fix is in. The guys at the IPT do not want a 14-year-old in their event so they have altered the numbers.
This is not a "viewers choice" event. This is the typical line of crap that we should all expect from the IPT.

Your votes mean nothing. I'm also kind of embarrased because I was rooting for Austin before this happened.

KT sucks anyway

Regardless of the final results in this voting process. it is impressive that Austin has learned that if you don't ask you don't get, at such a young age. Besides the fact that it's good for pool to have a 14-year old kid competing at that level, he is showing nice leadership. At 14-years old, any type of leadership is good. It certainly can't hurt the game at this point.

Well Austin is back up in 4th place and is now at 6.46%. He gained over 1% and two places in the last 5 hours or so.

For him to have dropped 5.5% in a matter of 11 minutes a few hours ago means that there was either a computer glitch/error, or someone made a manual adjustment to the results on purpose. Either way, I think an explanation is owed by the IPT.

Well, it seems as though votes were definitely removed from Austin, whether it was intentional or not. I have been tracking the percentage movement every time I have voted. A couple of days ago, my five votes would move his percentage up about .02%. Then yesterday I think my five votes moved his percentage up only .01% since the total number of votes in the pool has been increasing.

Just now when I gave him my five votes his percentage went up .05%, which can only mean that the total number of votes in the pool has dropped. This is just a further indication that a good portion of Austin's votes are no longer being counted. I hope the IPT is forthcoming with an explanation.

Hey Austin

Austin,

I only read two pages and didn't care to read much more of the drama about you playing.

Here's what I got for ya junior. I been playin since the age of 10.. By the age of 12 and 13 I started to hear complaints of my age while in pool tournaments or bars.. Mainly because the older crowd didn't like losing to a young kid. But they complained it was just because of my age that I shouldn't be there. Anyway, When your young like that you will always have someone against you for any reason what so ever.

Don't sweat the small stuff, Find a way to keep the love for the game, and focus on where you want to go in the game of pool..

I think it would be good for your game if you got voted in. Best wishes..

lol, this is the statement of the year. As if the IPT has ever been forthcoming with anything. A few things that come to mind are payments, tournament cancellations and the overall state of the tour. It is very comical that you guys are still supporting KT and the IPT when from the very beginning he has been trying any and all means to make money and that is his only intentions.

This newest marketing ploy or model of challenge matches he took straight from TAR and if I hadn't outed his intentions of making this one a PPV then it would have been. I also said that the IPT would hand pick the two participants if the players weren't to their liking and I agree that putting a female or a 14 year old in a challenge match against someone far better is not going to bring viewers.

Im sure a ton of people have paid the fee to become a premium member for the sole purpose of having more votes. Now KT has your card number and your votes really didn't count for anything, lol. When are people gonna learn that KT is a goddamn con-artist?

All that being said, if anyone wants a sweat bet on the match, whomever it is, let me know, lol.

and with that said I am certain they were adding no shows to the qualifiers to make some of the fields look bigger or have enough for an event.

I went and played one in Spring Hill, There were two names that did not show up.. When I searched the previous qualifier tourns on the IPT I saw those same names that were no shows and also in ones after the one I played in..

Sadly I won mine to get my no shot at nothing.. I sure wish the IPT would of went some place.. I had a bright future for 8 ball on the IPT.. Instead all I got was an e-mail stating I could play for free in all "if any" future IPT events..

Yeah, Loved to read that part that said " if any"
