How accurate is this statement from wikipedia:

" (Walter Lindrum)... is often referred to as the greatest player so far seen in this sport."

And this was quoted as the source.....http://www.eaba.co.uk/articles/walterLindrum/walterLindrumProfile.html

I believe it is quite accurate. The two things that stand out for me is that, he was required to concede a 7,000 point start to his opponents for the duration of the "News of the World" tournament (mentioned in the site you linked) and he won the tournament. He often won matches by 8,000 points with this handicap. Keeping in mind that was playing the best of his time.

The second being that no one challenged him for the professional title for 17 years.

For more info on Lindrum, get his biography by Andrew Ricketts. A review of that biography is in one of Byrne's books. He beat the champions of his time by large margins. They changed the rules of the game to hamper him, and he changed his game to still win.

Some pretty impressive shooting going on in those videos. You Tube is the triple nuts. So much good stuff (and a lot of crap too) available for everybody to learn from.

FWIW I don't how many people have tried english billiards before, but that 200 break isn't as easy as he made it look. But that is Walter Lindrum for you, possibly the greatest cueist ever.

For what it's worth, he's also the only cue-games competitor in history to have a postage stamp minted for him (in Australia). I'm no philatelist, but that stamp might very well be a collector's item by now. GF

George,
I've got it and some others from around the world. It wasn't more than $5 and I believe that it was a set. FYI, these stamps are easy to reproduce and enlarge on a Kodak Picturemaker Kiosk. See link below:
