I`am tired of people begging for help in Aiming,Bankong and Diamond ststems positioning and no one doing anything about it...These are the things that are killing our sport, no education methodology or systems and not enoough good coaching, and i mean coaches not great players...I have seen some of the greatest players in our time put together pool schools and they all failed...I once asked how was the pool school that cost $3000.00 and they replied, it was great hanging out with great players and having lunch with them and watching them make great shots...so I asked what did you learn? she said oh a lot of stuff...I said what kind of stuff...well at this point i knew they just had a great sociable weekend...Imagine if you went to Harvard and had great lunches and the teacher taught you how to teach yourself and never gave you a working manual to teach yourself with...That`s the problem with pool, no paper work or a good working manual so you could keep notes...That`s another thing most every student i had all most never made notes unless i asked them to...Well i could go on for ever on this subject...Remember one thing you can`t get any better at anything if your not willing to change...If you made the same mistake everyday would`nt you have to change...I will leave you with this...If i left my house and made a left turn crossed the street and got hit by a bus...Don`t you think i would have to make a right turn one day...change baby change...Ron V. Wait, what's the point of this post? have a slight headache from trying to read the post.

Ever heard of a run on sentence?

Hmmm no i think you will have to explain that to me, i went to college and graduated high school alright but for some reason didn't do well in my english courses where there was this guy who called himself fatboy i don't know why because he was pretty muscular and had lots of money but anyway to answer your question i'm not too familiar with run-on sentences.

Ron, this is a friendly heads up. I was recently given your name by a respected poster on this forum and told that you are one of the best instructors on aiming techniques in the country. I was just about to call you and still may....but...

Your post is WAY, WAY off the mark and I respectfully suggest you delete it. I have trained with some of the best instructors on the planet including Allison Fisher, Gerda Hofstatter, Scott Lee and Stan Shuffet.

The ALL encourage note taking. Several years ago, I had a private all day session with Allison and my wife took TEN PAGES of notes that I still have and refer to.

Scott Lee...and the whole SPF organization as far as I know, has an EXCELLENT manual and video the entire session so that it can be referred to for LIFE.

Stan Shuffett has an EXCELLENT manual and encourages note taking.

Your comments are just flat incorrect.

I have it on good authority that creating relationships on this forum is an outstanding way to develop new students and your post...from that point of view is already backfiring on you and will continue to if you don't delete it.

If you have things to contribute to pool education...and I understand that you certainly do...bashing virtually the entire rest of the instructor community is not a good way to go about it.

Again, these comments are meant to be helpful and I think will be if you heed them.

Respectfully,
Jim

I think I know what Ron is trying to say. I don't think he's calling out any teacher or school specifically.

Ron's curriculum would probably be considered by many to be non-standard because it's not what's taught in the books for the last 50 years. However, as one of his students, I can tell you this....

I've been playing pool since 1990 and I've read every book on everything - experiencing marginal at best improvement with "book" info. Ron's information changed my life. When I was driving back to PA from NYC, I was literally giggling the whole way home because I couldn't believe there was another world of info out there I never knew existed.

I've taken lessons from dozens of people over the last 18 years and three people changed my view and perspective on the game for the rest of my life (in no order): Ron Vitello, Hal Houle and Joe Tucker. It's easy for me to say, because "who the F am I, right"... but it's easy to say this guy is a better instructor than that guy because he helped me, etc. However, in my heart, I honestly believe this guy knows everything about everything and that's no F-ing bullsh*t.... and I'm the most cynical skeptic on earth. He may not be tomorrow's politician, but it is what it is.

If he wants to make frustrated posts that rub people wrong, whatever. Knowing what I know now about the man, he could lip-off about my mother and I'd still drive a total of 8 hours to see him because I know he has info that the others wished they had.

Just my worthless 2 cents because what do I know. :)

I took the time to read every word of Ron's post because as a fellow instructor, I respect his opinion immensely. I agree with every word that he wrote. If you fail to take the time to tap into Ron's knowledge base (for whatever reason) it's your loss. I consider him one of the best.

I would like to learn more about the game and its finer points, techniques, etc. as you mentioned, but at this point in my life, family comes first and I have 4 kids at home and don't leave them just for the sake of finding an instructor a day's drive from my home that may help my game. If there are techniques out there that would bump my game up a notch, and they are more than simple comments, I would think they could be put to paper and help to serve the masses. I would love to meet with Hal, Ron, whoever, but I will not take days out of my family life, at least until the kids get out of the house. By then, I may have no interest in getting better. I have had a couple of sessions with Hillbilly (at my home and here in town when he was here for a tournament) that were extremely enlightening. I learned a few things that made a big difference in my game. His methodology can be put to paper. I think the true test to any "system" is whether the person who is taught leaves with the ability to relay the lesson to others. My only issue is that there may be some out there who can do that, but their methods are not sound, and you leave worse off than when you arrived. When I read the post, I thought Ron was like me, eager to learn from something that someone might post. Now it sounds a bit like an indirect advertisement for his instruction.

So if I make a right turn I won't get hit by a bus?

I was wondering *HOW* you could make that right turn because you were killed by a bus a few days ago when you took the left.
MULLY

I was just wondering, is there any conceivable topic that isn't responsible for killing the sport?

Suggestion

Sounds to me like Ron should be looking for someone to help him start writing a book or producing some instructional video's. I am always open to learn something new and to improve my game, heaven knows I could truely use the help.

Kev-

Ron already has a book-- as well as some of the best diamond systems out there. Next time I see you at the club, I'll show you some.

Dear pool world and some of the guys that put me down,

I wrote that at 3:30 in the morning...you should`nt critize my writing or my comments about the coaches...First of all if you read it you must know that i never named names...

Tom Simpson ,Scott Lee many others are great coackes...I said we didn`t have enough of them...

And as far as taking lessons from 4 or 5 people, well that`s not to bright...It sounds like your giving them all tryouts...So now tell me who was the best?

This thread was not to pickup more students, I DON`T CARE IF I EVER GIVE ANOTHER LESSON...

Most pool players don`t want coaching they all think they can learn all by them selves...

Tiger Woods has coach and i`ll bet no one knows his name, but Tiger loves the guy...So let me say that you negative people and you know who you are did not get it...

If you need a lesson, for those negative guys, i give them for free on the phone...
I have given 15 free phone lessons from Montana to California and Vermont...

I gave a lesson to a guy yesterday for 4 hours and he ssked for another 4 on thusrday because he was going back on sat...i said going back to what...He said home I live in Memphs Tn...He said i came here to study with you...I was so excited i hugged the guy...Now that`s a guy who wants to learn and i don`t mean it`s because of me, it could have been anybody..
So please forgive for the way i write, just try to get the message...

RonV.

I never said killed i said hit..and that was just an old joke...But you wouldn`t get your too young...Ron V.
