If you're willing to spend $2,000, do NOT get the Viking. It just doesn'tmake much sense. You'd be better off getting something built to your specifications by a respected and reputable cuemaker. This will almost ensure that you will be satisfied.
I agree with MasterClass that Mottey can make you a great looking and playing cue that will start at $1,500. Both Paul Mottey and James White make an incredible cue that is not only near perfect in its craftsmanship, but in playability as well.
However, if it is that classic 6-point, SouthWest style that you are looking for (Similar to titlistsucker's ebony on ebony South West), than you should definitely investigate Pete Ohman's cues. Omen Custom Cues are superb playing cues. They truly are top notch! I've had several in the last few years and all played great. And over the years, Pete's work and execution has gotten a lot more precise.
And as far as that SW look, most of his cues have the style already. Somewhere along the way, Pete seemed to shift from exploriing his own design style and began making South West-looking cues (right down to the exact same ringwork). I for one would like to see Pete creating his own designs rather than the SW ones he puts out now, but there is no doubt: his cues are still great!
And you'll still have $500 or so left to spare for gambling!
