Want Respect in Pool? Be a Man.

It is very important to note that the female players are not ALLOWED to play in a lot of the same events as the men so the performance vs. pay topic is skewed. And conversely, men are not allowed to play in any women-only events.

Not arguing John, but I am curious, as to which specific men's events are not allowing women based on their sex, versus skill level? Turning Stone is open to any who pay their entry fee... Is the U.S. Open blocking women entrants?

World championships generally work on a qualifier basis.... Are women blocked from the qualifiers?

I 100% think she plays exactly like a 790 Fargo. I have no clue what makes you think this. After playing her 3 sets I watched her play a lot. I’m convinced her 790ish Fargo is accurate.

Sure... NOW you are. Because she beat you, three times in a row. But, given your respective Fargorates before you started.... You obviously thought you could beat her, despite a significant difference in your respective Fargorates. Not a whole lot of male 750-ish players looking to match up even with male 790-ish players, as far as I can tell. And certainly not multiple sets in a row.

Not trying to beat you up, but something deep down inside you looked at her Fargo, and said , "She doesn't REALLY play at 790+ speed." It took a lot of money lost to convince you that she did. Would it have taken as much money against a man with a 790 Fargo? That's the real question.... Whether it was some latent, deep down sexism in your particular case is debatable. The sexism in the responses on AZBilliards was not. Many players, despite being corrected by the INVENTOR of Fargorate as to why her Fargorate was accurate, continued to argue she didn't REALLY play at a 790+ speed, as compared to men.

I'm thinking it's their players union or whatever you call association that is holding them back. Could be wrong.

I played her for 2 reasons. 1. I play at higher speeds in long gambling matches than I do in tournaments. 2. In 9ball I felt I could outbreak her. Simply put I’m positive when it comes to long gambling matches my Fargo is 25 points higher than it is. Especially 9ball. If you don’t believe me just name some 780 players and I’ll play them a 9ball set. You name 8-10 and let me pick one. Bet what you want

Translation: I'll pick the guy with the weakest break, and hope to outrun the superior technical skills with my break. My Fargo rate is "25 points higher in a long match" because I am over reliant on my break to get easy opening opportunities, and a long rack your own match allows me to adjust speed/angle to get easy rack after easy rack.

I mean... That's what we are really saying here, right?

You willing to make that bet against a 780 with the 9 on the spot? Didn't think so.

You willing to make that bet against a 780 with a neutral racker, using a wooden rack? Didn't think so.

I am not trying to bust your balls, really Donny... But let's call a spade a spade. If you were willing to play 9 on the spot, and I picked 8-10 Euro players in the 780 range.... You wouldn't like it. It's not so good to isolate on one specific skill (break), with one specific pattern (rack your own, 1 on spot). That's how one gets to be known as a rack mechanic. Not that anyone has ever accused you of being such a thing :grin-square::grin-square::grin-square:... Just saying. Appearances are appearances.

Whatever floats your boat, man..... I am suuuuuuuure it had nothing whatsoever to do with her being a woman.

Magic rack 1 on spot or 10ball. I don’t play ref racks. I don’t care if I’m playing a man or woman. I played her 9ball because I played her a set of 10ball a few months earlier and felt I could win at 9ball. I played bad and barely lose 21-19 and 21-20. So I wasn’t far off was I lol. And her and I played 9 on the spot

Magic rack 9 ball, 1 on the spot is an absolutely broken game, and does not in any way measure which is the better player. It measures who the better soft-breaker is. One of the worst, most boring sets I ever saw in my life was Dan Louie versus Mike Vidas in Tacoma, maybe 6 years ago. Soft break every time, and it was the exact same runout for something like 14 racks. Made me embarrassed for them as pool players.

Donny has ZERO reason to duck any living human. Tommy D.

Pool is a sport that should be 100% genderless. There is no physical reason why a woman cannot perform as well as a man in pool that I can see.

This is a very foolish statement. 100% genderless pool becomes 99.7% male pool. After all there are a handful of women...blah blah blah.

Maybe it was just unwatched because it was uninteresting and not so much ignored.
I think that for many members here, if there is a show about pool, then the game needs
to be the main focus, not an aside to what goes on in a bar. We all pretty much know that

The danger of being sarcastic lol. The thread regarding her and this episode has been one of the hottest thread for weeks. I was making fun of the OP for being late to the party and then being strangely out of touch. The same thing happened when the "Hustlers" series came out.

In NYC I doubt that she would win at the "C" level...very tough venue.

New York players have a special kind of delusion. If it wasn't for Fargo ratings we would still have to believe a New York C player is really an A player anywhere else. Yet it certainly doesn't translate to New York pros doing well in tournaments. How did Yednak do in the 14.1 Champs? lol. How is Robles doing in the International 9 ball? ( a nice guy I know.) The Big Apple needs to get over themselves Big Time. Duddy has a rating and its the same no matter where she is.

Don't know how many local NYC tournaments you've played in, but in the late 90s I played in many, and although they were handicapped the fields were awful tough with several US Open players competing in them. You're entitled to form whatever opinions you choose based on whatever information you have or haven't.

As far as Duddy's abilities are concerned, feel free to offer her backing in as many amateur and pro events as you please.

My POINT is if you have a C tournament with a bunch of Mid to low 600 Fargos you don't have a C tournament, you just thought you did. Players aren't any better in New York, they just have an errant artificial scale. 4 letter handicapping should be a thing of the past.

Then it appears that we are, pretty much, in agreement...without any delusion.
