Wanted: BETA testers for cue management software

I have some web based cue management software that I need beta testers for. The software basically allows you to manage the cues in your collection and keep track of purchase price/sale price, profit, who bought the cue, the cue's images, and a bunch of other information specific to your collection. The software provides several different reports and even a report tailored specifically for catalog print outs.

Another interesting feature of this, since it is web based, your collection can be searched by anyone, anywhere, as long as they have an internet connection. You simply mark the cues that you want to display to the public and they will be searchable by anyone visiting the main website. The software will also provide you with a specific URL that you can point people to so that they can see your collection (kind of like an online catalog for your collection).

I need about 4 testers, and they will get a free year of membership to the site. The testers need to have several cues in their collections and it would be nice if they were actively buying/selling cues.

P.S. A kind of neat feature is that when you enter the details of a cue, the software automatically generates a "Forum Posting" that you can simply copy/paste into the forum. This includes the details of the cue and any images that you have uploaded for the cue.

Im interested. I buy and sell pretty often, (flip), collect, use ebay, use AZ, upgrade, refinish. So I can give it a pretty good workout.

I write software, industrial software, so I have experience in that as well.

I'd Give It A Shot..... Although I'm Leary Of Posting/sharing My Buy Prices With Anyone, So I'd Most Likely Not Post That Info To The Pages.

Thanks for the interest!

The only fields that are required on the forms are the Manufacturer (or Maker) and the Model (or Type, i.e. SP or something like that). None of the other fields are required. Also, the public pages won't display the price you bought the cue at, only the pages that require your username/password are the ones that you can view the "cost" field on.

The only thing you'll miss out on is the ability to let the site calculate your profit, so that's not a big deal.

Ok, I'm ready to set up accounts for you guys. I just need each of your email addresses and then I'll email you a password. You'll then use that password in conjunction with your email address to login to the site.

Once logged in you should see a menu near the top of the page with three links. "Cue Listing", "Reports", and "Account Settings":

Cue Listing: This is a list of the cues you have entered into the site. From here you can delete cues, add new cues, and edit existing cues. To add a new cue click the "New Cue" button. After clicking this you'll be brought to a page that has fields for entering data about the cue - the only fields required on this page are Manufacturer and Model Number. The other fields are optional but the use of the software is limited if you don't fill them out. After entering the data click "Save" and you'll be brought back to the cue listing, where hopefully, your cue is shown.

To add images to a cue listing click the "Edit" link on the Cue Listing page and look towards the bottom of the edit page. You should see a box that allows you to browse for the file you want to upload and a button to upload the file. After the file has been uploaded you should see the image on the cue editing page. You can upload as many images as you want for each cue.

The reports are available under the "Reports" menu link. Right now there are 4 very simplistic reports, but more may be added after I get comments from users. A description of each report is listed so you'll know what they are used for.

Under the menu link "Account Settings" you'll see a page that lets you edit your account settings. Here you can change your password, your email address, and modify your cue gallery settings. The cue gallery is the public listing of your cues (you can mark a cue as private, though) - anyone with a web browser can see the listing and see what price you're asking for the cue as well as contact you via the gallery to make inquiries on a specific cue.

Here's a description of the fields on the account settings page:

"Enable Public Searches" - This field allows you to either enable or disable the ability for the public to search through your cue listing. Eventually there will be a main page at MyCues.net that allows the public to search through all of the user's cues. Setting this field to "No" will disable that feature for your cues.

"Enable Cue Gallery" - If set to "No", you won't have a cue gallery. I can imagine you'd use this if you're just using the software for private cue management and you don't want to sell/display your cues to the public.

"Cue Gallery Title" - This is the text that is displayed at the top of your cue gallery if you haven't specified a gallery logo.

"Gallery Logo" - This is an image that will be displayed at the top of your cue gallery. You can upload any image you want to use, but keep in mind that you should probably stick to relatively small images (no taller than 200px and no wider than 600px).

I KNOW WHAT I FORGOT.....

MAKE THE DATE INPUT MORE GENERIC. I HAVE NO IDEA WHAT EXACT MOST OF MY CUES WERE FINISHED ON. I DON'T WANT TO GUESS, OR LEAVE IT BLANK. IT WOULD BE COOL IF IT COULD BE JUST A YEAR, OR MABE EVEN MONTH AND YEAR.

I had the same thought. Especially for production cues. All I can do is approximate the year made. Only listed about 30 cues starting at the bottom. 200 more to go.
 
I can make that field so that it isn't really a date. If I did that it would be a free-text field and you could put anything in there - ie "2005" or "March 2005"..

You guys think that would help?
 
It also looks like the length/weight fields could use some attention - maybe I can default those to "Unknown" or something if you leave those blank? That would stop you from having to put "??" in there everytime.
 
Sorry for replying 3 times in a row but I just enabled the "Contact Seller" page. When that page gets filled out the information will be emailed to you based on the email address that you have the Mycues.net account setup under.
 
I developed a new feature last night - instead of accessing your gallery via a URL such as:

http://mycues.net/Gallery.aspx?u=1

You will soon be able to access your gallery directly via:

http://mycues.net/YourGallery

So the example gallery would be accessed via:

http://mycues.net/CueMasters

This makes it easier for people to remember the location, and also allows search engines more accurately index the pages. This should be put onto the live site in a couple of days.

I don't have a lot of cues and I'm not selling the ones I do have but I do work for a software company as a QA engineer. I test about 30+ products and some being web based. If you would like me to take a look around let me know.
