wanted: Roger Petit sneaky pete

Petit

Are there any indicators that a cue was made by him? I have an older sneaky that I bought in the Portland Oregon area. It has a yellow micarta ferrule, brown LBM joint rings and butt plate. It is also yellowed with age. 3/8x10 pin. Could it be one of his?

Okay i'm looking for an older Roger Petit sneaky pete. Preferably with the old micarta ferrule.

Thanks

Hello, Roger Petit certainly builds a great cue. Although I have not seen and of his newer work with Westinghouse Micarta for ferrules. I currently do not have contact with Roger, and I am also uncertain what the wait time would be for one of his cues, but I will ask around. I own a pool room and live in Lakewood, Washington near FT. Lewis.

I will let you know what I find out!!

Take care

Hi have seen a few ;-)

He used the same joint screw as a McDermott and was a flat faced joint not a 5/16-14 (stainless screw into wood (shaft))...... If you have the picture of the butt and joint the tan micarda (SP?) is easy to identify with the purpleheart ring (hint in the butt end w/birdseye maple).

BTW, he is still making them in Renton at Harry's Pool hall. I forget how long the wait is, but they are very popular in that area of the woods and if you have the $1000.00 in hand they are a steal?

I would guess the shaft on ebay was made by Pettit, but was not for one of his sneaky pete's! ;)

Bugs.

You can buy some real nice Sneakies for under $500 used, I have sold some through my business. I have been in this area for 19 years and I have never seen a Petit cue sell for a $1000, I must have missed something.

You could be right?

I have a friend that won one in a tournament at the pool hall in Fife, a while back. I have no idea of its street value. :o

You mentioned a pool hall in Fife, was it the Right Spot. Very nice little place, and the own is one Hell of guy. In the old days it was called the White Spot, I amy have the names reversed I am not sure, either way in the old days they use to have some great Tournaments there. Do you live in Washington state? If you do, stop by Lakewood and hit some balls at my place, Full Splice Billiards, the first beer is on me!!!

Oh and by the way, bring the girl in your Avatar and the whole night is on me!!! Huba Huba!!!

Take Care!!

roger cues..

roger petit cues somewhat hard to indentify. but he usually has a signature on all his cues. Other than that. if' it's a older cue. you'll have to bring to him to confirm.

Most of rogers cues don't go for $1,000. But they're somewhat hard to find for sale. Which is why i posted.

any help would be appreciated.

I remember Mike zimmerman shooting with 1 of roger's cues 20 years ago in lynnwood WA. Some kind of rosewood with a thin butt. Played super. Don't think he has it anymore but if I find it I will pay $1K for it. Good luck with your search

Pettit

I know of a plain jane Pettit, I think macasssar(?) ebony that I see at a local joint. Let me know if this is something that I can look into for you.

Rogers cues run around 450.00. If you buy him lunch, your cue will be about a 2 week wait. He is a perfectionist. You will never be unhappy with a Pettit. poolrod.
