I am looking to purchase a shaft machine. Please PM me with any info if you have one or know of one for sale. Thank you.

Shaft Machine?

Are you looking for a saw type shaft machine? I am getting the parts together to build one and would like to see any pictures of machines that anyone has. I have seen the info in Hightowers book and am looking for additional info or draw backs from your machines.
Gary :)

DPK book has info also on building a Shaft saw machine. Course this been cover/talk about numerous time before.

03,
I build and sell a CNC machine that will turn all of these items, shafts, butts, handles, forearm. In fact you can turn cut material as short as 12.5" up to 31", for shafts and butts.
It sells for $3,250.00 plus shipping. If your interested in holding on to your cash, we offer lease financing.
It comes with a lap top, programs loaded, for all parts listed above.

hello Blud , does this cnc have inlay function, cut shaft and butts ?
how about weight ? have picture? thanks

shaft machine

I have one of blud's new saw machines and it is great. It takes 1 - 2 hours to set up and you are cutting wood. It leaves a finish so smooth you will never want to use a router again. Well worth the money. Chris. CB Custom cues.

I too am trying to follow Chris' book

It is missing some key details, I have a dc slow geared motor to drive it.
I really want to see a few photos, of even other types of machines, to make something work we sometimes have to borrow a lot of ideas. Maybe we can collaborate? If I can help, I will.

I don't see the micrometer adjustment.

Probably doesn't have one. Chances are you adjust the depth of cut by raising and lowering the table saw blade.

YIKES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Come on Dick, put yours out in the market. :D

I noticed that also, and was trying to figure it out. You Can buy those micrometers easy enough, but I don't see a pivot point on that unit, so probably be useless anyway, unless It was modified. I aggree, It does look as if It is controlled by raising & lowering the blade, unless I'm just not seeing something correctly. One of these days I'm going to build mine:rolleyes: along with the 500 or so other projects :D .

I agree it looks like it only cuts cone tapers.

It doesn't have a micrometer, and yes you use your saw blade as the adjustment for cutting depth. I suggest asking Greg Sirca (GScues) these questions directly. I am not the one who built this fixture. It has potential. Maybe it needs refinement, but the concept works. When turning many blanks down .050 at a time it works fine. It slides back and forth in the slot of your table saw geared by a slow running motor. You must drill and mount where you bolt down the taller part that is the pivot point on your table top. It has several adjustments for setting up type of taper with sliding shims on the edge of the table top like a wedge (no micrometer there either).

Do you have another way of setting up a table saw cutting fixture with better adjustments and micrometer??? I would be interested, very interested. (<: Can you share pics so I know what I need to do to modify this one?? johnkmarshall@comcast.net

Greg's Shaft

Greg's machine is based off the one I have. The same guy made his first one and mine. It works really well. If he didn't change the design (and I don't think he did) it does pivot and it has a bar that hits the edge of the table for the second taper. Both tapers are adjustable with the simple turn of a screw. You don't have to monkey with the saw blade. For what I've seen some of the shaft cutting machines going for Greg's is a bargain.
