This link just popped up on a "Google Alert" for me and I just wanted to say thanks! I'm really glad you're enjoying the book -- hey, it's my life, so that's probably better than you hating it!
I found out about AZbilliards last year in Vegas at the BCA show. I'm a vet and we have a program that helps out troops with computers. We were asked to head out to Ft. Bliss to talk to the soldiers who were deploying. It turned out that what they really needed was equipment for their dayrooms and so, with the permission of the battalion, I started scouting people who could help.
To that end, my wife, kids and I headed up to Vegas where I was hoping to get a few people who could donate tables, cues, you know, basic Army dayroom type stuff, to the guys who were getting back from tours overseas.
The BCA members were awesome and I met the guy who published AZBilliards. So many people wanted to help, it was just crazy. I went back to the battalion and they told me that it was wonderful, but they just needed to run some stuff through legal. Huh? What stuff? Well, it turns out you can't just donate stuff to the troops. There's a maximum limit of $1000. I said, "Um, guys, I'm not personally donating more than $1k. I'm just helping to coordinate." They said it didn't matter.
So basically, we had a ton of people who wanted to help give the troops a nice place to relax when they got back from combat and the Army said no.
Oh well. One good thing came out of the trip: I beat Jasmin Ouschan in a game of 8-ball.
(only one and she destroyed me the other 4 times but hey, it's still cool)
