Warranty

I had a customer ask me about a warranty on tip installation. Asked me how long would I warranty the work. I told him I hadn't thought about it because I hadn't had one come back, yet. What warranty do you veteran guys give?

If I have one come off I put it back on for them or replace it. If I replace it I might charge them for the cost of the tip but never the labor.

My Warranty on Tip Installs

If I install a tip for you and it pops-off at any time during it's usable life,
I will reinstall THAT tip free of charge.
THAT tip prevents fraudulent claims about "it just popped off and went down the hole".
Sorry `bout your luck but look at it this way; at least you're getting something to the hole.
BS aside, now you get to buy a new tip.

I give a 2 week period. I call it a adjustment period where the customer may choose to go harder or softer tip. This is only valid for the ultraskin tips becouse I charge 25$ for a ultra skin installed so I don't really care if I pop off a couple till I dial in the customer. But once dield in they are very happy. If the tip pops off in 2 months depending on the standing they have with me I charge accordingly.

I believe that the original post asked about a "defect in materials and workmanship warranty", not a "satisfaction guarantee". There is a difference. But I could be wrong.

This is my policy exactly almost to the words :)

Just replaced a break cue tip with a Super Pro. That was ok.

I put a soft Ultra Skin on a smaller diameter shaft. Plastic ferrule that has been coned or angled alone with bad shaft maintenance. The Skins are a tall tip and I left this one tall because the girl grinds the crap out of her tip before every match.

She uses one of those Ultimate Tip Tools. I still haven't figured out if there is one feature on any one them that are useful.

She drops it on the floor and spins the cue in her hands exactly like she is trying to start a fire with 2 sticks.

She texted me a night or 2 after I gave her shafts back and told me that the tip popped.

First thing that I thought was that she twisted it off in her little pre game grind.

I told her not to worry and that I would replace the tip for her. I told her that it does happen on occasion.

She texted me back and said, "God damn right you will.

Thats not a great way to get warranty from the Hog. I will talk to her and if she gives me grief, she will get her money back before she gets another tip.

Had one with a plastic ferrule some time ago. I know that guys have mentioned glue and plastic ferrules on here before.

Now, for the life of me, I can't remember if I used epoxy on the other one or CA. I'm thinking that there was also a chance that I finally used a fiber tip pad on the ferrule and made darn sure that it was on good.

Any tips for plastic ferrules, other than cut them off would be appreciated.

I used to do tips and ferules back in Jersey at a very large pool room.

I gave a lifetime warranty or until it's chalked whichever came first.

Seriously almost every tip I put on was for someone I knew personally.

So what ever the problem was I took care of it.

It was more of a hobby then trying to make a living.

And nobody ever tried to take advantage of me.
