Was I hustling, or being hustled?!

You beat him 7-2 even up for hundred then he does the cocky "If I were on my hometown table...etc" offer giving you the 7 out. You're gonna get jacked, plain and simple. Here's why:

- You beat him even easily and now you're getting 2 wilds. He's got you thinking that he's just mad and trying to act "pool tuff", and this thinking has you printing $ $ on your eyeballs. So you go there and bring $500 min. with you... he's thinking you might POSSIBLY bring $1,000 or more. He spots you outside the place youre meeting, gives his buddies the signal and you get jacked in between some parked cars or in the bathroom etc.

The other possibility? Well to be honest if there's a remote chance someone's setting me up to get mugged, at that point other possibilities don't even matter to me :p

out of all ethnicities, asians are statistically more technologically proficient. it won't be long before asian jimmy becomes aware of this thread.

Tramp makes an excellent point here. I did some research on Yahoo to verify. In the first 2 pages, only a handful of results were for real, live people named Jimmy that were also of Asian descent. I'm thinking he's nicknamed for one of those car slimjims or something, so be careful. (Of course, I also had my search settings on 'Safe' mode!)

Rep to you, sir!

I know a couple asian Jimmys. 2 of them can shoot some stick, Vietnamese decent.

For starters, yes you were hustling. Doesn't mean that you aren't hustling a better player though, that is the risk you take. The guy offers you the last two locally and backs out in only a few hours. What do you think the odds are of him changing the deal after he has you hooked for a trip to Dallas? How many people have you had beat you 7-2 playing even when you were playing your real game and then you offered the seven out to them?

Only two likely possibilities: He was running off at the mouth after getting in a bad match-up, or you are headed into a deal in Dallas that you aren't gonna like at all when you get there. Go to Dallas and gamble and the odds are you will be headed home a lot poorer and a little wiser.

Hu

I agree Hu,

I've never thrown a game to get a game, I think that is what your supposed to do tho if your a hustler, but my game starts out so bad I have to run wide open to start walking.

That get the wild 7 bit is just pool talk, I here it all the time, you go to Dallas and it will be even , and you may not like it, for real, going out of town can sometimes draw your game up alittle!

Unless the guy is a Whale I would not give it a second thought.

F*ck it bro! you're ahead if he wants a shot at his dough back let him come back to you.

that is what i was thinking, finally someone that thinks like me....im not near dumb enough to go to Dallas and him have his goons possibly beat the life outta me and my friends for our money, id rather him try and take it on a pool table....i would play him even again all day long, i was just wanting to jump at him running off at the mouth if he was serious but i think i would want to play him here even

don't know if he could shoot pool , but he ended up with a buncha my green . . . .:frown:

If you have to ask the question you are in over your head. When you get there several things could happen but it is unlikely you will get the 7 from him.

Free advice, the next time you hustle somebody don't make it so obvious. Let him shoot more than 4 times a set.

if u read the first story u will see that someone let him know obviously that i was throwing off to try and get a money game with him, so it was in vain to throw off for the money game i got with him, thanks for your opinion though

...he says u got the last two for 20.00 a rack, I think for a second; "you're on." well someone told him my plans obviously cuz by the time he was out of tournament he wants to play even ...

It isn't obvious to me from those facts that somebody told him your plans. What is likely is that he tells people that to get them interested in a game and then changes the spot. Go to Dallas and see if he gives you the 7 and let us know.

Ok so new senerio question for all the AZ'ers......

Some times I will honestly take one of my "Less extravagent" cues with me to the bar/local hall, because, Maybe I dont wanna be judged as a "Shark in open waters" as some say, and dont always wanna end up shooting pool alone, or with ONLY the people who are with me. I'm usually not playing for money, and just wanna shoot to have fun with new people, DOES THIS MAKE ME A "HUSTLER"?! I enjoy playing with others, and having variety, and some people wont even play you, if they see you have "nice equipment" that means to them "you must be a shark, or REALLY good at pool". So when did bringing your own stuff to the bar, or enjoying the game so much, you invest in it with nicer equipment become "Hustling" people?!

so to sum up, and break down what i'm asking/saying...

I do hide something from people I play (how involved in the sport i am), in order to gain something (experience playing others)..

Does that also mark me as a "Hustler"?.. I personally dont feel so, I feel I just adapt to my enviroment...
