Was the last Las Vegas ITP Event a Success, or Failure.

Okay, let me give a synopsis:

Original Poster: Those who attended, was it a success?
Jennie: Depends on whom you ask, of those in attendance since they represented a wide spectrum
Original Poster: That why I asked "of those who attended." (Note: this was, IMO, a failure to understand Jennie's response.
Craig: In your attempt to pick a bun fight, you didn't read the question...
Jennie: What's a "bun fight"?
Craig: Bun fight? What's a bun fight?
Jennie: That's what I want to know
Craig: I'm English and I like the IPT. What's bun fight? Australian?
Jennie: I don't know what a bun fight is.
Craig: I don't know what a bun fight is.
Abbot: Third Base...

IMO,

Fred

Another sense of bun-fight, also still with us, borrowed the fight sense but left out the food. Often this refers to a heated altercation, but one that the describing observer feels is of no importance, rather like the nursery squabble that started the expression off.

An unneccessary squable ?

Depends on who you ask, Poolsleuth! :p

If you were to ask those in attendance, I would think the overwhelming majority would say it was a success.

If you were to ask those who have NEVER seen an IPT event, I am sure you will get a variety of responses and blessed opinions.

IMHO, the North American 8-Ball Championship was, without a doubt, a complete success. :)

You see, this is a problem in communication. Never "assume" to know the opinions of others. If you had asked me if it was a success or failure - even though I did not attend the event - I would have mirrored your comments - at least the ones about the event being a success. Ask some of the IPT players that I speak with on a regular basis - I was very close to attending this event. Ask these players if I spend all my time bashing the IPT when they talk to me. You'll be surprised to hear that there are many aspects of the IPT that I agree with. I was happy for all of the players - including yours. I have supported and encouraged many players before, during and after the event, including the guy that won the tournament. If the IPT wants to be more successful it can start by dropping this attitude that is given to people that don't agree with the entire package. I find this attitude surprising because Jennie, you of all people should know what it is like to be on the outside looking in. It's all a matter of perspective. Whether I am on the inside or the outside, I will always move forward with the best interests of the sport as my top priority. I will continue to assist the players in any way that I possibly can no matter where they play or who they play for. This event was a great success and a great champion won the event. I hope in the future that perhaps KT can start a 14.1 division - or a one pocket division - I think that would be great - and I believe if they switched/added those divisions that many more players would have a place to fit in to the IPT system - including Craig and I.

As is common in forum-speak, communication can be a problem when presenting one's thoughts and/or opinions. :(

However, David, the IPT sure as heck beats the UPA as it pertains to a LEVEL PLAYING FIELD and LEGALLY BINDING CONTRACTS. I can see, hear, and talk to the wizard behind the curtain at the IPT. :p

You read my mind, nice post.

I think for the most part the IPT members that got picked have been pretty respectful to the ones that didn't, however you always get some that can't resist the urge to gloat. I have spoken to several great players that (unlike myself) had the guts to try and make it at pool on a full time basis. Its obvious they where are extreemly disspointed to miss out and they now face a pretty tough challenge to get in. Therefore I find these types of posts distasteful and disrespectful.

How quickly people forget...

PS
I love 8 ball as much as anything, but for this year and next the IPT isn't financially viable for me. Hopefully I will play in some qualifers though, the events look great! :D

Well said David.

re; Bun Fight

As one of the few Aussies who post here, the idea of "grabbing our buttocks" as a form of aggression seems interesting, but alas I have yet to witness this in any of my hangouts (I must live a very sheltered life:D ). We do use the term "bun fight", but it usually means an arguement thats a little silly or more suited to a lady's bar. As regards the term "English Muffin", that has very interesting meanings here, as involving male/female relationships (as a side note, Americans saying "fanny" has us laughing as well).

I wished I'd been able to be in Vegas, I'll just have to wait for 2007 when the tour comes to Australia

Daniel:D
