Wash DC area Pool instructor Doug Sharp passed this morning

A Good Player and a Good Man

Doug, RIP buddy. You will be missed. Doug and I talked several times over the last couple years and he was definitely a fighter. I'll miss his simple take on life, his hesitation on his backstroke, and his encouragement.

Thanks for the link. I am so sad about Doug. Every single time I ran into him, he'd walk right up to me and say, "How's it going, Jen? What are you up to?" He was a very humble man and a good listener. We used to smoke outside together at many a pool tournament, exchanging laughs, talking about pool smut.

Doug and I are the exact same age. I did not know he had cancer, though I did know he had a really bad back. I've been out of the pool loop in recent times. I only wish I could have seen Doug once more to tell him what a great person he is, how much I enjoyed his company. No matter where we were, Doug was always my friend and went out of his way to let me know it. RIP, Doug.

Doug the Charmer

Known Doug forever. He was a one-of-a-kind. I went to his Dads funeral a long long time ago and Doug never forgot that. I was always OK with him because of that.

Doug was just the friendliest guy I've ever known.

R.I.P.

Keep that hesitation on that final stroke....it will serve you well.

RIP Doug

Doug was more than a friend or mentor to me. He was a very close friend - so much so he was truly family. He taught me a lot about life as well as pool. Of the close friends a person has, very few can be credited with contributing to a person becoming the person they are today. Doug was that for me. I am forever grateful for being able to have known him. He was loved greatly and will be greatly missed.

God Bless,

Dan Reid
"Dannyboy!" - as Doug always called me.

I was fortunate enough to play on a BCA team with Doug from 1991-1993. The team also included the late Jimmy Scrima, Greg Pappas, Ed Kiess, Bob Gawthrop and Pat O'Neill. We took 3rd in the Open Division in Vegas in '92 and 7th in the Masters in '93.
I was the only player on that '92 team that had national tourney experience, but we had a great run at the title. Doug lost only one game in the tourney and was clearly our MVP.
Great guy and good friend.

Wow...been a long time since I have heard of Scrima.

Did you know that Jim MacAdams passed away in the last few years too?
