wax on shaft

I just got a new used cue. The person I got it from waxed the shaft. I hate the feel of it. How do I remove the wax?

i wax all off my shafts too but rubbing alcohol will take the wax of and evaporate very fast
i wax with carnuba that way when i clean my shafts i only take off the wax that has the chalk in it, not the wood.
chalk is very abrasive.
have you ever seen a ferrul that looks like a hour glass
i am right handed i only chalk with my right hand so i get the least amount of chalk on my shafts
i also own my own lathe when i am shooting alot i will wax every other day.
but i dont use the white talc. my hands get moist i dry them off with a towel. if i use talc it makes everything sticky and gritt.
everyone is different. and my way may not be your way
one point of view is the shafts last a lot longer if wax is used.

I used some alcohol on a magic eraser and then smoothed it out with some 2000 grit and finished it up with a good rub down with leather.
Its as smooth as glass but we will see if it gets gummy when I play with it.

Your method was the correct approach, IMO for cleaning off the wax. I use denatured alchol and eraser as the first step on every shaft I work on. That combo cuts thru all the body oils, grease, food stuff, chalk, and even the last coat of sealer that was applied.
That being said, I do recommend using a sealer to reseal the pores of the wood, before polishing. Alchol and magic eraser and sanding will affect any sealer that was already on the shaft, and should be replaced. Otherwise, chalk and dirt will buildup on the wood surface and into the pores and will cause stickiness/drag, and that's not good.

Ok, here is what you do.
Dip it in gasoline. Then dip the lucasi in there too. Remove your clothes, make a headband using your bvd's. Then light the cues on fire and dance around them in a circle untill burnt to a crisp. Dip and relight as necessary.
Then call me and we will design your new cue. Just a thought.
Ps Ted will lend you one of his untill your new one is done.

Burn the Lucasi! Have you gone mad? You know Cocobolo is a toxic wood
the fumes may wipe out Denver.
It would be hard to pick out a cue from Ted. Be like a kid let loose in a candy store and told you can only have one piece of candy.

Ted has more candy in his store than he needs. lol
Whatever you beg,borrow or steal from him for gods sake, make sure it has JP`s & a half joint or its just not worth it, keep the Lucasi.

I think there is a wood sealer, Bullseye that works pretty good. I like to us Pro Gold Carnuba wax but also keep 1500-2000 grit paper in my back pocket while shooting and that keep the shaft smooth without taking much more than the grime off the surface.
