Waxing the cue ball? WTF is Kaci talking about now?

The WPA states that this is a warning because some were unaware this was illegal. I have certainly cleaned cue balls while in play without a referee, right out in the open using whatever is handy. Does a sweat soaked towel make a cue ball roll faster or slower after it dries? I don't know.

The WPA does say this is an Unsportsmanlike Conduct foul which means the punishment can be up to a lifetime ban. That seems a bit over the top but even the risk of a one year ban should be an attention getter.

They do need to be sure that everyone knows this is an illegal activity, then if they want it stopped harsh punishments need to occur.

FYI, I just posted a new video that covers the WaxGate saga in great detail in this new thread:

Here's the video:
I like how you are getting on this topic. While I have seen your clips about throw and induced throw effects with different cleaning agents, I knew that CB and even OB will behave differently under certain cleaning agents. Those are scientifically true.

But lets face it, what you have pointed out about experiences and compensations of different conditions is also true. I think this is where the magic of Pools and Billiards are...aka...interesting hobby. If without those elements, it wouldnt be interesting. Fedor banana carom into 9 was an amazing shot, and he knew well enough if that missed, the 9 would have been there for the taking.

So the question is, how did Fedor compensate so well while Kaci did not ? Was it all because of Wax ? Nahhh, you are just less experiences and knowledgable than you thought you were. That is it.

But also, we couldnt use Wax on Fedor Gorst banana shot into 9 as an excuse to aay CB was Waxed....because Biado did not use gloves and did not do any funky roll as anyone suspected at all. So how come the CB was that slick ?

Dont all Pros and tournaments happen on slick brand new cloth with new set of the balls and...not sure what the team used to clean the balls. But if they used Aramith official cleaning agents then there are Wax in it for sure...which case...is not the players fault and should never be pointed out to defame such players that way
But how do you do it under millions of views and REF ?
In the end, what I am saying is that scientifically Wax and substances will make ball behave differently. But if you used those evasive behaviors of balls and blame on for your losses, you are just a sore losers. Elusive ? Because different wax has different effects as Dr.Dave pointed out

So the question is, how did Fedor compensate so well while Kaci did not ?
You are assuming that the be cue ball was waxed in both matches. Even if they were, were they waxed “equally well?” There are too many variables to ever know the answer to that question. It’s all a guess.

I just find all of this so fascinating that it’s just now mainstream when it seems like all the pros know about it and nothing was ever said. it’s seem now that everyone is talking, they all seem to have partaken.

IMO that makes any crying less relevant. Lets see how professional events deal with it moving forward- that’s the real question.

I thinks they should just go old school and play with balls that have been played with and have no sheen. That way it’s obvious.

I actually assume that all balls were cleaned with Aramith cleaning agents. They are official Aramith products which makes it legits. I clean mine with those before swapping out to soap/vinegar/alcohol mixture solutions. Balls cleaned with Aramith cleaners will always be a lot slicker where as the Mixture behave more like typical and common balls in most Bars

But then again, I spoke to pro players and they all know that waxes and cleaning will affect game plays. Doesnt mean it will impede them to the point that they couldnt compensate for it though.

Most pros know that pro tournaments are all on tiptop felt conditions and balls cleanliness, and compensate accordingly. That is where there game begin. They also hustle in Bars and so on...does it mean when they lost, they should blame on not playing with tiptop conditions ?

Filipino men will have to ask their wives if they can play. All the pinoy players I know don't work and their wives wear the pants in the family.

I've met too many good players but they can only gamble what their given allowance is. I don't see big money games on the local level.

It's probably different in the Philippines but the wives are the bread winners here.
