I"m not bothered by the ads. Kind of enjoy them actually. I have the avatars turned off as many are a turn-off... imo.
 
I've advertised on the forum before, and also have an ad in my sig. However, I try to leave the sig off of my post if the thread I'm responding to (or starting) doesn't have anything to do with my software.

I'm a member of other forums, many which allow no advertising at all. Personally I like most of the ads on here, and I read a lot of them. Usually there is a good discussion in the thread following the ad that brings up good points about what the person is selling..
 
There are those of us that do offer it up for free and for dough.

My pooltable website is completely free (although I love getting clicks on my banner) but the other build a cue is for profit.

I am currently working on a project that I will have to advertise and when the time comes I will pay for a banner, advertise here and other places and put it in the sig. (if it will be allowed after this... Gee thanks JT!)
