Wearing a hat while playing billards

It's sort of "Bush League". I don't know what 21st century pool etiquette is? I consider it poor form. Like smoking at the table. Bum Phillips never wore a hat in the Astro or Super Dome, and that big Texas hat was his trademark.

What are you covering up??? It's better than a toupee I guess.

i'm keeping the hair out of my face so i can see the OB & CB.......no, i can;t cut it shorter, i am retired and can't afford a barber! :frown:

I can see where wearing a hat in any high profile event is "bad form". Should be dressed to match the occasion.

I am a hat wearer BTW. lol

But in the everyday,,,,or a low key pool tournament,,,who cares,,wear what ya want.

Ever since someone asked me,,on here,,,how I can wear a hat while playing pool. (because it gets in the way of vision)It has been getting in my way. Not sure if I changed my stance,,ur what. But I'm not liking it much.

I agree with you, i'm a daily baseball cap wearer, got hair, work outside a lot, keeps the sun off my face...
I've also almost always wore a hat playing pool, the last few years i've noticed getting down real low on a long shot it gets in my way, so i pretty much don't wear one while i'm playing anymore...

Tennis players wear hats and visors, like at Wimbleton where YOU could never get in to begin with.

Funny you mention Bum

He may not have worn a hat but did you check out those boots :shocked2:
Always wear my hat shooting pool. Hides my secret sight system.

A very good local player always wore a hat to play yet didn't wear a hat at any other time. I asked him why and his answer surprised me. He said that he adjusted the hat to only see the table, all background movement was blocked by the bill of the ballcap. In addition he grew accustomed to a certain feild of veiw on his set up to the shot so he knew if his fundamentals were in the ballpark...

You're right, we should only be wearing tuxedos when we play. Anything less than that is uncivilized...

how old are you?

I always wear a hat. Now its now a big deal, but when I first started playing I would always pull the brim down so I wouldnt get sharked. Now when I see someone trying to shark me, I concentrate harder and it actually makes me shoot better

SEE LOT of Baldies wearing these.

Oh yeah, I find your bare head offensive. Suck it up princess.

99% of the time I wear a hat. Now when I'm hatless I find the lighting above distracting (too bright above). Also, I use CBTE Center Brim To Edge.

There's a couple of guys that wear hats where I play - I asked them once how they can play with the hats, I tried it once and it was very distracting - but for them, they said it helped with the unevenness of the lighting between standing and being over the table. *shrug*

And heaven forbid if someone turns their cap around when they play..:p..:D:smile:

But that's a different thread.
