The way it was said - truckers were lumped in with "prostitutes and many others who make few contributions to the world." There was no distinction between the three of them when I think there clearly is one and should be. I was not trying to argue with you or anyone for that matter - Thank you for clearing that up.

Because I like AZB and it is slowly being destroyed. I would like to see it improve not deteriorate. I think that one should stand up for what they believe in rather than simply go away shaking their head. When it gets too bad I will leave until then I will try to make life better -- I recommend it highly as a way of life.

I enjoy reading this forum too. But I don't see that it's deteriorating? It's a forum. Some days there's lots of interesting things and some days not. I think you are blowing things a little out of proportion. Enjoy the parts you like, and avoid the threads you don't.

Houseman, Here's your answer about me having to know everyone's name at Danny K's.

I have learned most of their names because they're kind enough to share that information.

But among themselves? They all know first and last names and usually much more, because it makes the experience for them so much more interesting.

Can you imagine a pool room where everyone went by monikers only?

Hey, "this is Hustler Joe", or "here is Snake". Sort of crude and infantile, isn't it? Why not really learn something about the person you're talking to?

I would never require people learning names in my my pool room, but then is it the same as a forum like this where the only interaction you have with someone is through typewritten words?
My players play pool with each other and watch sports, etc. I can't imagine someone not introducing themselves when they sit down next to someone.

I'm not saying the forum should require names be used, but why not encourage it?

I think it would add a personal touch and create more good will.

You don't really believe I was trying to mine for names and addresses, right? To use them in a way to make illicite money or take advantage of people? Kind of like suggesting I could be a thief, right?

That you haven't encountered any nutcases in your time online is commendable. There are others that HAVE encountered them. Some online participants are prone to threatening you AND your families (and pets). They will threaten to damage your car, boat, motor home, etc.

They have offered other's that know your name and/or address, money for the information. Once they have your information, they will post ALL your information online, make up lies about you and hound you from forum to forum. They will call you on the phone at ALL hours, day & night. Harrass your wife, husband or children and try to ruin your credit.

I have encountered at least three individuals like this in past 10 years online and many others here have encountered them also. Some have faced their wrath and some have been spectators.

I've used Smorgass Bored as my online handle for over 10 years. I don't use or have any other identities. I sign my posts Doug, with no last name. I've met 100s of people in person that I've met online. I've played pool with at least 50 AZB members. I was tournament director at Planet 9-Ball in Tampa for eight years and could be found or called there.

There are a huge number of online people that know who I am and know my last name. They keep my last name to themselves at my request and surprisingly, they have managed to do so for 10 YEARS. I've lived at my current address for over 20 years and I've been listed in the phonebook for the same length of time.

I CHOOSE not to sign my last name to my posts. I appreciate and thank my friends that have honored my request for Privacy and quite frankly, I'm getting tired of you and some others that repeatedly insist for full disclosure from everyone, just because YOU use YOUR name online.

I have no idea why your pushing your full name scenario here once again. It's like a broken record. You've had a number of people in several threads (you've brought this up a number of times) explain to you very valid reasons why they use screen names. But again you dismiss this and you push this full name disclosure thing again.

It's silly to me and makes me think you may have other intentions to gain this info. I thought to myself, do I need to know Doug's (Smorgie) last name? no. Do I need to know Fatboy's real name(just trying to pick a screen name everyone here knows) no.

I can't see why anyone would have to know someone's personal info unless they were doing business with them such as a cue sale ect. Anyone who is continualy trying to find out poster's full names for no obvious reason sends up red flags for me. You caused me to distrust you. I'm sure it doesn't bother you what I think so we should agree not to communicate further.
