I have a table that needs to be temporary moved to allow for the instalation of our new carpet.

I was just wondering if anyone knows how heavy each piece of slate is? I know that my table has three 1" slate pieces.

I just talked to Glen about this yesterday and my table is a pro 8 and he said each section weighed about 205. I am guessing that a 9'er would be just a few pounds more.

I believe that Real King Cobra told me that mine were right at 246 lbs each. The table is a Diamond pro 9 ft and the slate thickness is 1 3/16 of an inch. When I tried to help him lift these on the table he said he didn't need help and then proved it.:yikes:

He rolled my 9' Diamond table into my house on a dolly, and brought it into the room I wanted the table in. He set the dolly in place and asked me to hold the dolly for him. He then lowered the table sideways very gently into place, holding the entire weight of the table as he lowered it. After seeing that, I said forget about all those guys at Gold's gym. I'm sure Glen could bench 500 or more. The only man in the pool world I ever saw with this kind of raw strength was Mike Massey. Mike didn't want to arm wrestle people for fear of breaking their arms. He could snap a man's elbow like a toothpick.

I'm sure these two together could dead lift a full size pool table, one on each end. That's over 1,200 pounds. I'd bet on that.

Depends on the size of the table!

Slate weighs 168 pounds per cubic foot:

Something 1 inch thick has 1/12 of a cubic foot per square foot. So your slate weighs 168/12 = 14 pounds per square foot.

If you have a 9-foot table your slate is probably about 54" x 104" overall, which is 39 square feet, so it weighs 39 x 14 = about 546 pounds overall. If it's 3 pieces, they're each about 546/3 = 182 pounds.
