among the items is a microwave oven.

began to wonder about milk dud tips and cold pressed layers, so i had to ask...

Now this was quite a surprise. One minute in microwave.

i have tried this personally, not advisable. It will shrink and gets too hard. Have put it around 15 secs.

What the hell would you do that for?????

Why don't you microwave your whole cue stick??

Why don't you microwave grapes??

Why don't you microwave your cat??

Why don't you microwave your shorts??

Find something to do instead of letting your mind wander through the empty expanse in your head??

Your consciousness may not coexist with the interdimensional hypothesis........

I have nuked Duds in milk to give them a bit of a head start.

On a couple of occasions, I have left them in a tad too long.
They turn into real long wiggly worms. Not a pretty sight.

I have played around with pressing tips, etc. An article I read about hardening leather is to boil the tip. You want the water to where it JUST starts to boil and then remove it from the heat. You do NOT want to cook the tip as in leaving it in boiling water.

Personally I leave it in the water for approx 1 min and then put it in my press. I have one of the Picone presses AND one of the Rocket Cue presses. I seem to recall the information that comes with the Picone press mentions this.

I stick the press in my vise and tighten the vise using a torque wrench. Allows me to repeat my desired pressure.

I leave it overnight until dry.

The tips are usually stuck in the press so I do have to punch them out.

I have also used a vacuum press (ie foodsaver type) with water (as above) and draw the air out as in quickly marinading meat. You can actually see bubbles being pulled out of the tip to be replaced by the liquid. I am sure this could be used to QUICKLY soak a tip with your preferred mixture/concoction.

Note: I'm sure this is overkill but I just do the tips for personal use.
