Let me be the first to say to Colin Colenso, very well done. Although Colin didn't make it out of Round 1 he had a very respectable showing in one of the toughest groupings of the tournament. 39.22 Win % against George Breedlove, Ralf Souquet, Mark Tadd, and James Fusco shows he had a high level of play. Seems, from looking at his group, that his hill-hill loss to Mark Tadd cost him a chance to move on. Colin, although a familiar name on this board, is not a household name in pool. I am not really sure on Colin's 'speed' & would love to hear from him to see if he thinks he overachieved, underachieved or did as fairly as he thought?

There seems to be quite a few players that didn't play up to their level of expected play.

With a more favorable draw in the next tournament, I don't see a problem in Colin making it to a second round.

Great job Colin! If you won that hill-hill match with Mark Tadd, you would be advancing to round 2 instead of him. Hopefully next tournament, you'll have an easier draw! Cheers!
 
Well done, Colin! You hung in there with the big guys and didn't advance by a squeaker. Your performance deserves nothing but respect!
 
Hats off Colin. There were several players that got blown out. You were NOT one of them. Better luck at the World 8-Ball Championships.

I just got to the computer for the first time. It was a pretty hectic day yesterday!!!

I had my chance yesterday. I was 5-3 up over Mark Tademy. He pulled back to 7-5 and then I got it back to 7-7. I broke and scratched and Mark cleaned up. We were both struggling a bit and starting to tire after 5-6 straight hours of playing intense pressure pool.

I was a bit lucky to beat Jimmy Fusco who was playing some superb pool, beating Mark 8-3 and then he went 7-4 up on Ralf Souquet, but Ralf fought back to steal that match.

I probably didn't deserve to get through, but feel I'm not too far away from being competitive on the tour. The experience here will help a lot. I need to play a lot more matches and play a lot more pattern / strategy work, because my brain was a bit slow sometimes figuring the best way to go and this led to some mistakes. In my last match against Ralf I found it very difficult to find good patterns...I suspect that was mainly because I was mentally exausted, as my games had been running long and I was moving straight from one match to another for the whole day.

Anyway, now I've got some time I'll try to keep you updated with some commentary.

A few minutes ago Linda was just 3-5 behind Mike Sigel and putting him under a lot of pressure. It's being broadcast live in Europe!!

Great attitude. I am sure that it was a fantastic learning experience. You did have a super tough group and still finished VERY respectfully. Keep working on that game, I am sure you are destined for more success in the future.

Great job. I was pulling for you. Ralph is a tough one, no doubt. It was nerve racking just waiting for the final post of your last match. I fought to stay awake. At least you got by your first one out of your way and quite respectably.
 
Vegas = Fun

Colin, Have some fun while your in Vegas. Here are a few place the Wife and I always go. If you start craving some good
Chinese/Japanese/Cantonese food, check out the Mask at the RIO.
Also for fun you should head over to New York, New York and walk around So-Ho, maybe get a Coke and a Slice. Try the Roller coaster also.

Go to Ceasers and walk the shopping mall, stop and see the show in the Middle at the big fountain. Also swing into Victoria's Secret for some Live modeling and pick up your Wife a surprise gift.:D :D :D

If your Single and looking for some beautiful Women, check out the Pool at the Palms or the RIO.:D

We always stay at the RIO, we get a really good room rate, we have been going for years. They have a Mardi-Gra party every night. The Voo-Doo lounge at the top is very cool also, great live music.

Have fun, keep your wallet in your front pocket and stay in a group if you go down to the Gulch. Remember what happened to Danny Medina.

Good effort Colin, looked a pretty tough group. I watched Souquet and Breedlove on TV and that was a real struggle - not pretty to watch or play against I suspect.

Better times ahead I'm sure.

You're right Shane. No one will forget this tourney. It's been amazing to be a part of it.

Talking to KT (hears the thud of name dropping;) ) the future is promising and hopefully we'll be blessed with many more events like this in the future.

I get the feeling more and more interesting stories are developing. Not just for TV viewers but for players and crowds as they get to learn the various characters on the tour. One example is Austin Murphy who played some elite level pool to take the other kid 'Kid Delicious' to hill-hill, with both of them fighting for a spot. There were about 200 people watching the final couple of games intently and both kids put on an amazing show, with the 160kg+ kid finally coming out ahead of the 40kg kid...lol

The drama in many of these 8-ball matches at hill-hill is often quite intense and interesting.

...I'm getting off track now....too much stimulation....lol:D
