Well, this is what i did. Waht do you think?

You could do this without cutting the old tenon off, and do a build up of layers on the original tenon.
I thought about doing this using some carbon fiber tow.
 
You should of spent the $60 bucks imo.It looks okay but not near
what a professional can do for you with a lathe.Hopefully it stays together.

Quick set epoxy isnt designed to create solid parts out of. You did a good job, and i hope it works out, however, the likelyhood of that epoxy withstanding the impact and vibration for the long term is not very good. I think it might lift or crack off as time goes on. You might get lucky and it will last forever, but im not gonna change how I do it regardless of the outcome. Nice work though.

breaks a ton

i prefer this to bk very much. still intact after 100+ breaks

All is till good

Have changed the tip to talisman hard and playing(braking) with it. Hits the ball very sweet. I put this shaft on some cheap Chinese butt. Together cue weight just under 18 oz. My mezz/314-2 is sitting in a case, for now...
 
Well done! I like nothing more then to go out into my shop and come up with an idea with what I have on hand.....very rewarding.

We can never progress until we try innovative ways to better existing ideas.

i did it all manualy. i do have that little motor tool for engraving though. i used it. pad is same material as used for circuit boards if you know what i mean.

Good luck in improvising new things... I did my own bumper once, from a piece of hard rubber found it in an old factory. I cut it in a hexagonal shape sand it...ect.
I had all my friend asking me to make some for their cues. Funny...:)

I have done a lot of repair work in the last 25 years and I must say I am impressed with your ingenuity. You might want to consider getting a lathe and making some money doing cue repair.
 
Here's one I made out of epoxy years ago. The cue is nice and straight, but not worth a lot of money. so I just made a ferule for it to save it from the junk yard. It plays excellent.

I am very curious if there might be something more to this notion of building a ferrule in place rather than glue it on....


The OP did a great job....and now we see one from jayman....anybody else hiding ferrules they built?


I have certainly never tried it but I am thinking about it now.....
