When using 207 as a sealer/base coat what is the final sanding grit to use before applying the actual finish? Is the 207 good enough to provide the actual finish? I have applied three coats of the 207. Any advice would be appreciated. This is my first time using this system as a base coat.

You can use 105/207 as a finish, as it is specially formulated to stay clear, and even has a UV inhibitor added. Of course, there are many other options as well. Using 220 gets the surface smooth enough while still giving your finish coat enough to "grab on to."
 
Hi,

Try using G5 as four coats applied 4 minutes apart at a slower lathe speed. When applied this way you get a 4 coat monolithic substrate that you can handle and take out of your lathe in 10 minutes.

Let cure 12 hours plus and sand with 220 then 320. If you use whole sheets of sand paper you will get a perfect flat substrate and nver won't burn through after removing the high spots.

The 4 coats adds about .013 to your dia. which turns out to be about about .007 to your dia. after you sand flat.

Then automotive safe thinner, tac cloth and spray your finish.

i use 220 or 320 depending on the amount and depth of scratches,then wipe with denatured alcohol followed by naptha.the denatured is just hot enough to remove some scratches.

I also use denatured alcohol. What is the advantage to follow up with naphtha.

too much denatured or leaving it on too long can melt the glue too much,or i feel like it might so i always wipe it down with the milder naptha afterwards.
