Westinghouse Micarta

I have eight blanks of Westinghouse Micarta. This is from the early 80's and has a fine weave to it. I believe it is paper based. I am pretty sure it is not the " Holy Grail " of Westinghouse. LOL... These make great ferrules and they play fantastic. The price per blank is $20. The blank in the calipers is the smallest blank I have, you should have no problem getting 14mm ferrule rounds out of these. Thanks.

I could be wrong but I am almost positive this is Westinghouse. If it isn't then I apologize, is there any way to be absolutely sure? Either way this material plays great, not trying to get over on anyone just going on the info given to me by the source.

It may very well be Westinghouse Micarta. It is - IMHO - not one of the sought after "white" Micartas so desired for ferrules.

Westinghouse used the name Micarta for all their commercial plastics.

What you have appears to be canvas reinforced natural phenolic
sheet stock, as in not rolled rod.

Not only is this not the 'holy grail' it isn't even a distant cousin.

However, that doesn't mean it isn't the best damn ferrule ever...
in the opinion of some.

I have both kinds the white paper ones and these on two of my playing shafts , u can't tell the difference between the two both play awesome. the stuff u have is found in old refrigerators as circuit boards it has asbestos in it.

If anyone else is looking for a few of these I have a couple. Same thing and color. Old Westinghouse Linen based Micarta. Not sure about the asbestos part but I wore a respirator when I cut them.

They are roughly .600 in Diameter and a little over 4.5" long so you can get at least 4 Ferrules out of them, obviously more if you like a shorter ferrule.

If you want one, just PM me an offer.
