Ok this has been posted and answered alot in one way. What id like to know is what 1 cue have you picked up hit with that just felt Perfect and what wood was used. I have owned and let get a way, cues by Gus,Barry,Schick,Bender,Kiekel,Southwest,Blackcreek, and maybe one or two others. Of these and some others I have played with 3 stood out.
A Gus Szamboti that Mark Griffon used to play with, a friends Scruggs, and my Shick. Of these the one that stood above was

Mark Griffons- Gus Szamboti
4 points
Ebony into maple
I unfortunately dont remmeber if it was Ivory or Stainless joint

I dont want a list of two or three I would like to know the ONE and the material if you remember.

the best feeling at the 1st hit for me was with the old Southwest owned by Richard (X-Breaker guy). Just one hour of perfect pool with no effort (maple 4 point I believe). The cue was not for sale, and I never felt the same hit and feel again.

Years ago I played with and had the chance to purchase a 59" Gus and could not come up with the funds. (it was sold to a colector in Japan I beleive)

Best cue I ever held.

The cost on these is justified in my opinion; many other cues look as good or even better; however combining Gus's attention to detail and playability is something that is very hard to replicate.

As good as they are, even Barry's cues are not quite at that level yet, although his are (arguably) even more precise and intricate as far as inlay work is concerned. And. I would not turn one down!

I have two that are neck-and-neck, of which my old Huebler wins by a hair. It's a rosewood plane jane.

Don't want to sound stupid "BUT" I think any cue that you play well with today and pick up a month later and it still feels good is That cue. Right now I have two custom Jerico cues by Jerry Powers that answer that way for me. Good solid hit and feel, weight and balance are perfect (again for me).

I had a rosewood into straight grain maple 4 point black boar...ss joint...ivory ferrule...lepro tip. Sweetest hitting cue I ever owned. I had 4 boars and all were very close, but that friggin rosewood cue had a real pure hit.

My latest cue is an LP custom....rosewood reverse spliced with curly maple sunburst points.....real nice hit.....real nice.

best i ever hit with...

tofurkeys has a duffrin j\b conversion made by dennis searing...i think it is purpleheart wood but could be wrong...but my gosh what a solid felling, perfect balance, and super sweet shaft...if all searings hit like this cue...i would say for my taste he makes the best i have ever swung.....mickey carroll ps this is the cue that cueaddicts had on his web site....not fancy just a monster player...

Same here. I had a early 90's Meucci that hit better than anything I've ever held. I eventually put a 314 on it and it played better but it did not have the great feel of the original shaft. The playability of the 314 outweighed the feel, but oh do I miss it.

The finest looking cue, IMO, is an Ed Prewett owned by Tommy T. He may have others that strike his eye better or play better but it is my personal favorite.

good thread..........Paul

Thanks Guys

I appricate your input. We are getting some where here, not a bunch of cues but the cue and most of them seem to be simple unadorned players.
