As we age, we sometimes suffer short term memory loss.
Also, I sometimes have trouble remembering things short term.
Me too, and I'm only 45.
It's a common thing and I think no big deal. If somebody wants to be a smart ass about it then they are a smart ass, I don't think it says anything about the person who asked.
Frankly, I have a lot of really extremely important things in my memory, but there is a lot of crap in it too, so things like what balls I am on tend to get brushed to the side too easily sometimes.
I actually have an extremely good memory. I remember the telephone number of the house I lived in until I was five. I remember almost all the bolt sizes on my first Harley (a lot of Harleys), as well as Honds CB750, Yamaha XS650, Honda, CB500T, Triumph 750 Tiger TR7RV, my 69 Chevelle, my Porche 914, my VW bug, my Shelby, and more.....and most of those I have not owned in decades. And that does not even begin to consider close to a thousand drugs, their chemical mechanism, indication, contraindication, side effects, and interactions. Then of course there is all of human biochemistry, physiology, immunology, pathophysiology, pathology, microbiology....and on and on.....
But yes, I forget what balls I am shooting. Not that it isn't important to me....just one of those things. I'm also not used to shooting the way that I do now. It didn't used to take so many turns at the table.
Also, lastly...if one gets pissy because the other person asks what they are shooting I think it has more to do with the fact that by nature of the fact that the person asked we all know that you just got remined that YOU JUST MISSED YOUR SHOT!
I used to ask such things just to rattle the other player.
Now of course it's because I need to know.
