What are the bad side when using glove

I love using it BUT most of the time i cannot feel the shaft and it made me over-hit or under-hit the cueball.

Play without the glove for a long time and MAKE SURE your shaft is slick, have it slicked up by a house cue man or do it yourself. The longer you play without the glove AND with a slick shaft, the only difference you'll feel between no glove and glove is the glove will add more cushion and possibly stability to your bridge hand. People can knock the glove all they want, but sometimes it provides that difference you didn't know you were looking for.

That being said, I haven't used my glove in about 6 months... I'm just used to a slick shaft and a clean bridge hand. It feels better.

edit:
PS. make sure your bridge hand is SUPER CLEAN when you start shooting. Like hot water and soap, and then rinse with cold water. I find the best skin-on-shaft feeling is after doing the dishes :p Hands are super clean and so is the shaft.

yeah my speed was off when i first started using one aswell, another thing was the cuff was too tight for my wrist and after a while i started to get pains in my bridge hand so i no longer use one.

I wouldn't blame the glove for that. Check your stroke......randyg

Your friends will laugh at you? Just kidding, washing your hands will take care of most of the sticky shaft problem.

i tried one the other day for the first time but i couuldnt feel the cue so speed and spin was all over the place

i only used it for one rack and took it off i would rather keep my shaft clean

Should keep your shaft clean regardless, otherwise you're just putting old dirt onto your shaft every time you use the glove. If you watch Earl shooting immediately before you shoot with a glove, it's like magic that slowly wears off :p
It can be a beneficial part of some peoples' game, but it's kind of rare in the B player and above crowd. Clean shaft and clean hand are hard to beat for feel and response.

The downside of using a glove is listening to all the "cute" remarks about the "Michael Jackson look" when you put it on :D :D :D !!! Other than that, I pretty much can't do without one what with my sweaty hands problem and all. I even got my son using one now, and he was originally adamant against ever using one. It seems the glove is either loved or hated with not much middle ground.

Get one of those driving gloves -- car driving gloves or motorcycle gloves. Cut off the pinky and ring fingers, and the tips of the middle and index fingers and the tip of the thumb.

Doggone glove will cure the MJ comments, and get you ones like: "That looks sinister"... and "Don't mess with that guy" :D

Flex, thanks for reminding me of some gloves we bought a few years ago at Party City for part of a Halloween costume. They're fingerless, black leather w/silver studs all over the back of them. Gonna go dig 'em outa the closet and take 'em to league play tomorrow night :D :D :D !!!

I always do that. Maybe that is why there is always yellow stain on the table i have played before.

Sometimes

About 5 yrs ago the air conditioner went out in the room I was playing in. I got a glove first time i ever used one. Played all nite, it was about 90 in
there. To me their good for that mine probably hasn't been out of my case in 3 yrs.

Does it "make you over-hit or under-hit the cueball" all the time? If so, don't use it. If it's only some of the times, I'd suspect that you'd also do the same thing without the glove.

Fortunately, it isn't too rare. The cover shot of this month's InsidePOOL Magazine is John Schmidt after winning the US Open. With a glove. The more professionals use them, the less rare it becomes.

Clean shaft and clean hand are hard to beat for feel and response.
This may be true for most people, but obviously if it was simply that simple, there would be no reason for gloves. The truth is that some people will never feel the shaft slide through their hands the same as others who can. That's just biology.

I'm pretty meticulous about keeping my shaft clean and well-sliding, but in the humid months, my shaft will simply get sticky within minutes of play. I'm sure it's my biology since others claim to never have any issues. It is what it is, and meticulous cleaning isn't the answer for many people. So, the glove is their/our best alternative.

Here in Manila, it's a bit rare that you see people playing pool with gloves on in the local hangouts... More often than not, the people with gloves on play at the high-end pool halls located in malls and the likes.

I used to wear gloves when I started playing coz I got sweaty hands. I got a lot of comments from other players who are not used to seeing players with gloves... "wow... he must be good." but then again if i missed a shot they would say "tsk tsk tsk.... and to think he was wearing gloves." From then on, i slowly tried to rid of the gloves as much as possible.
