What are you cleaning your cloth with?

I agree.
I do the same but I do not use a microfiber.
I use a terrycloth towel.
Since I switch to Taom at home, the table stays remarkably clean.
I used to use terry cloth before microfiber became readily available. The only issue I can think of with terry is it sometimes leaves little pieces here and there. No biggie to pick those up. That said microfiber cloths should be washed before use. Otherwise they have a tendency to leave micro fiber dust behind. Take a new and dry micro fiber cloth and clean a cueball. You'll see what I mean.

To Trob: The 3 slates is simply saying I clean 1/2 of 1/3 per cloth side. In other words I turn the cloth over 6 times. Especially on a public table. Some need more than 1 cloth LOL!!

That is one I never heard before! Thanks
This was the advice given over in the “Ask the Mechanics” forum. It has served me well. I think it works great, even if you are using Taom, or another similar dust free chalk, I think you still need to occasionally remove general grime created by ball cleaner residue and sweaty hands with the Woolite and water solution.

Why do you guys use woolite? Will any laundry soap work? I just had my table recovered with Simonis cloth and would like to keep it as clean as possible.

Chalk off spray!! One application does the trip in under a minute. It helps to keep the balls clean as well

I recently ordered a "Roomba style" vac for my table. I order one that is 8" in diameter thinking it may get in the corners a little better. I will post my opinions after using it a few times.

The most important thing is to vacuum it regularly. Pull the chalk dust out. As far as anything more, you could wipe it after vacuuming with a damp micro-fiber cloth. Get the rails, too.

Keep your hands clean. No french fries, popcorn, pizza, ....

Keep the table covered when not in use.

Good call! AZB member/mechanic “Sheldon” turned me on to the Roomba idea and it works great! I have the normal size one and the little rotating brush on the side does a good job of getting under the rails and the corners. It makes for a real efficient cleaning. I wipe the rails and castings down while the robot vacuums the table. Meanwhile the cat watches in amazement and will probably be taking a ride on Roomba soon. Lol

The reason I KNOW they work really really well (besides the fact that my hand doesn't turn blue after playing) is that when I re-cover a table that has had a roomba on it regularly, there is nothing under the cloth or under the rails. Very different from tables that are either neglected, or brushed regularly.

Is there a specific Roomba to look for or will any work?

The 800 series or newer have the best suction. Here's my ebay saved search for them: https://tinyurl.com/2bkratrn
I've bought around 20 from ebay over the years, and another handful from craigslist, all around $100. You can get new rollers and brushes cheaply from ebay as well.
