When I first came to AZ billiards I thought it meant A to Z in billiards. Sure did feel stupid when it finally hit me!

How's this list for Arizona? Am I missing any Good rooms?
Thanks

Hey Joe,
Don't feel bad, I thought the same thing. I figured there was too much information and news about everything to do with pool to stand for Arizona. I think maybe it should stand for A to Z, since every die hard pool fan uses Az billiards and it does cover billiards A to Z!

Joe, I thought you knew the history of the site. In the beginning it was devoted to pool in Az. That didn't last long.

This is a list of the rooms that I know are closed...

You coming to Arizona sometime soon? If so, give me a call and I will show you around.

Mike

I thought it stood for Arizona but then came to realize that it meant from a to z , just the opposite from you Joe. Now it means "the best".

Thanks Mike, yeah I was talking years back when I first saw it, then learned it was AZ based and watched as Jim said become the best and the A->Z of billiards.
My first trip as a pool pup took me thru AZ. I was really green so times were tough when I was there (should I buy cigarettes or breakfast?). One day I was busted, came out of the bathroom at Kolbys and a friend of mine from Providence RI who I hadn't seen in years was staring face to face with me. We were like holy $#!$ that's was weird. Anyway he steered me to a ring game at a bar down the street where we made enough to get my POOL STICK OUT OF HOCK and get to Vegas.

Oh yeah that reminds me of another incident or experience I had in AZ. The one and only time I've ever been thrown out of a pool hall in my life.
This guy sends me into Tommys billiards and gives me the scoop on a few guys. I remember him pointing at players while standing right outside the tinted windows and it kind of freaked me out. Anyway I go in and they're having a lower level tournament and they ask me if I want to get in and I tell them that I think I'm a little to good for the tournament but I'll be over on this table if anyone good wants to play (that was it, that was the whole conversation) So in about 20 or 30 minutes they send someone to play me I win 50, 50 he raises the bet to 100 I win and in the middle of the next set a very mad houseman comes over and says do you know such and such guy and points over to the guy that steered me in there. (who really should have just stayed home) So I say yeah(cuz I was green and am still not a very good lier) I seen him at Kolbys. Well that was it. He says how much we owe, peels it off and says now get the F### out and I'm like hey wait a minute. This guy asked me to play, you sent him over, he raised the bet and your yelling at me? Well he didn't care and expressed it and I definately didn't want to push it. So that's the one time I got thrown out of the pool room.

I may come back but I sure hope that houseman is long gone.lol

Joe T, I think you missed a couple in Tucson. Mainstreet Billiards on Broadway way out east and Pockets on Wilmont near 2 nd street. Both good pool halls, Pockets a little smaller but a nice place.

Sorry I don't have the addresses.
