I prefer Brunswick Gold Crowns.. I have a Gold Crown 1 that was made in 1961, and it's gorgeous.. New pool tables are ridiculously priced, and besides, like disposable lighters, there's enough pool tables in the world, already.. Go used, you can get great deals on all 3 brands, and literally spend 30 cents on the dollar, compared to new tables..

go with any USED table

You cant get rid of a table almost for free ...so go used...nicest you can find. only buy it if you can play on it and have it disassembled yourself by the same person who will assemble it so u know that all the pieces are there and how it plays...the rails, etc

These guys telling you to buy used are right. A few months ago I sold my 3 year old furniture grade eight footer at a major loss. But I bought a Gold Crown IV in mint condition with new 860 for a steal deal.

Pool halls are going under and the economy sucks. Look around for a commercial grade used.

Can't go wrong with either Diamond or Gold Crown. But, like one of previous posters stated, look for a used one - with patience, you can probably find one for 1/4 -1/3 the price of a new one.

^is this realy true?they are all made in china or its just a copy?

They are all made overseas.
And have been for YEARS!

I am sure Glen (Real King Cobra) can shed more lite on this but the Gold Crown frames 'used' to be made in Brazil - and the rest in China.

All of the furniture tables are also made overseas. Possible some of the frames are still from Brazil but the furniture aspects are from China.

The 1961 GC that TeddyDog is talking about is different.

Gold Crowns went 'down hill' with the start of the GCIII around the 1970's (I think). Ask any mechanic who has worked on them for awhile.

the olhausens are or at least were made in usa recently. i have one and its a great table and it fits into the looks of a house better than any others imo.
i dont like the cut of the pockets as lots of balls wobble and hang up if you dont hit them good. and some you hit that would go in other tables.
but for a home table if you arent trying to emulate pool room tables they are great. terrific quality and play. plus used ones that look new go for less than 1500.
ive played on them all for more than half a century and play well.
