What diameter shaft do you play with?

My McDermott Dubliner that I use for my 9-ball play is 12.75mm. My other playing cues I use for 8-ball & straight pool are 13mm size.

i like 12.75mm in general....though 13mm is OK too, depending on how it is tapered. recently though i started playing with a 12.5mm that is fantastic, so I may have to investigate the smaller diameters some more. i don't like them too skinny though, i never liked anything I tried that was under 12.5mm.

I prefer about a 13 but I can be pretty flexible. I am the same about taper, more flexible than most I think, it seems to depend on the wood.

I am actually most fussy about balance. The farther it gets from what I like the more it throws me off (screws with my stroke).

Made a change

11.8 mm/BEM shaft/ 3/8 ferrule/kamui brown medium for the last 4 months. (Still love the dawgduds-just going thru a phase Jeff)

I have to be careful to stay near centerline on cb or things get wacky.:p

shaft diameter

For me I like a 13 with about a 15-16 taper. I do have a few cues with 12.75 and works fine aswell. I think the advantage of the 13 is, if you get
a nick you will have more material to work with. I use the wet paper towel
trick to fix. I will take a small piece of towel about the size of nick make a ball and wet just a tad apply to the area over the nick and put tape around
to hold in place over nite and the next day you can sand the swollen part
with 5 or 6 hundred sand paper will be like new, and not worry about
losing to much wood. take care, john
