This ever happen to anyone else in tournaments? Your playing an opponent, and it's your shot, and they just decide to walk off. What do you do? Generally I feel like I should wait for them to return so they can see my shot. I think it's really rude to just walk off.

So what do you do when this happens? Do you just go ahead and shoot? Wait? Get mad at the disrespect?

I mean some of these guys at tournaments are just there for a social gathering it seems. They make a few shots, and then when it's your turn they go and talk to their buddies across the room!

I know what you mean. I ignor the rude part of it and try to get their attention if that does not work I ask a spectator to watch the shot. That way they can't say anything they left the table, so thats either sharking or forfit.

If you are in a tournament, he is not to leave unles it is in his inning--- also if you have the director watch you can continue shooting until you misss, if you run out you may have the director to rack and continue shooting!!!:D :D :D
 
Or the director may instruct the opponent that he is not to leave the playing area during his match. He may well disqualify the other player for that, too.
 
First off its sharking, secondly the TD should not allow it or they are a lousy TD. Your opponent normally would have 1 time out to leave the table, the first time they left the table I would inform this player that they have used their time out, now let the player take it up with the TD.

what do you care what they are doing???? do what you want to do. this is a no brainer situation. get real, man.

This is just another Sharking move to slow down your game and break your focus. You should pay no attention to them, step up to the table and play your game. Once they leave the table in the manner you are speaking of it is your turn, focus only on that and kick thier ass!!!!!!!!!!!

What Do You Do?

Leaving the table when its your opponents turn is an old move thats been around forever. Many tournaments allow you to leave one time during a match. The reason the person does this to momentarily distract you from your game hoping it will cause you to make a mistake. When somebody does it to me I simply wait until the person returns and then I ask them if they are now ready to play. This of course irriates them a little (which of course is what they just tried to do to you). At least now your on the same playing field - both irriated a little!.
 
I have never come back from the bathroom and WON a game. That ought to give you an idea.
 
All I can say is, the better you get, the less you see it. If I knew it was a move, I might start shooting the balls out of order. Since no fouls are gonna be called, I should be able to clear the table without a problem.
 
I would been happy if they leave the table. I usually encounter opponents staying around the table and distracting me. When it's not his turn, he must get out of my face.
 
Not all tournaments are the same

You guys are talking about having one time out per match and that the TD should DQ the player for leaving the table, but it sounds to me like this is a pretty casual (and probably cheap) tournament where everyone knows everyone else. The rules are, rightly, different in that kind of situation. My advice is to check with the TD, maybe at the beginning of the next tournament. If he doesn't see the problem with it, then just keep playing when your opponent walks away. I bet it isn't a shark move in this case, just a very casual attitude.
 
I've never had that happen to me!! I guess all of us West Coast players just have more courtesy than the rest of the country!!
