What do you HATE about your Cue Cases

Many of us own, owned, more than one Cue Case. My collection has been a 1 x 2 Box Case that just had ZERO storage room for nothing more than a block of Chalk.

A Porper 2 x 4 that was Vinyl that is now owned by Shorty, that was used for storage but basically was a nice case for the money.

Porper Warranty is excellent, as several people I know have had Zipper go out on their Porpers. The cases were returned to Porper and in all cases they got a FREE REPAIR, and or New CASE with FREE RETURN SHIPPING.

Currently I have a Couple of Whittens, (2 x 4 , and 3 x 6) and my only Grip is when I want to Switch out to Different Cues, I have to change out the SHAFT SPACER. Also both of my Cases have a Large & Small pockets that I wish was just a Tad Thicker, and Wider for more JUNK.

Is there a Perfect Cue CASE? Who knows as Perfection is defined differently by different folks...

I have 2 riley soft cases that are absolutely rotten and I was thinking of getting an hard cylinder case that stores 2 butts and 2 shafts but I get the feeling that I would look stupid walking down the street with it over my shoulder.
 
Cases ...

I had a George Eel skin case, but found the one large pocket
as being insufficient for my needs, and the carrying strap
was not wide or strong enough.

My Porper 4 x 8 is just too heavy fully loaded (including
dow pins so I could store jump butt in tubes), have
problem with top zipper, and foam in the lid did not hold
up. I had to buy a selt belt pad for the shoulder strap as
my shoulder got extremely sore after 10 days in Vegas at
Nationals. I had 2 playing cues, 2 shafts on one and 1 on
the other, a break cue with 1 shaft, and a jump cue in it.

A light 'on the go' type soft case I have is a Crystal Leisure
Wizard (embrodiered on small pocket) case which has a
small pocket with 2 different sections and a large pocket
just like cases costing much more. I carry a break/playing
cue and a jump cue in it. (Jump butt in large pocket).
I bought it for $30, and consider it a bargain. Dark blue
in color. The pockets separate this one from others like it.

I still want to get a better soft case, perhaps the new Silverfox BR-2,
with redesigned pockets, and I would like to get a 'formal' case, and
right now, that is a Jim Murnak Vintage case.

Face it guys, our cases more or less act as our 'purses' to an
extent, and a case without good and roomy pockets on it just
doesn't work out in the long run. Jim Murnak has shown some
imagination, a new design, and has tried to think of the players
with the pocket space he has provided with the Vintage line. I
think time will tell how much players like his new line, and I am
almost sure, it will be positive in all respects.

I'm looking to get a soft case now ..what is a good one.
 
Hate is such a strong word.

I would love to actually see a case with more storage room than I need.


Funny, the purse comment.

I bust on y wife for all her usless crap she carries around, yet I do the same thing with billiard toys, gadgets and gizmos.

i think the spacer is unnecessary. and have you ever tried to get one out without the wooden dowel???

i luv the cue-vault case just given to me. absolutely ZERO accessories....no pouch no nuttin'. but it seals,,,and doesn't let humidity in at all, which has always been my concern. also, it doesn't look like a cue case, which has always been too ostenatious for me for just carrying around the city.

I agree.., Porper makes a nice case for the money.., Giuseppe Custom Cue Cases also makes a nice case for the money.

I had a similar experience with my Giuseppe case.., They stand behind their cases and offer a lifetime warranty.., and I really like the fact that Giuseppe cases are hand-made right here in USA!

You said it.., it's a matter of preference.., but I'd go with an American-made case that is built to last.., http://www.giuseppeinc.com
 
I have a 2 X 4 Instroke. The only thing I dislike about it is the bottom of the case is only held together with small nails, and over time they have become loose to the point where I think it is gonna fall off.

But to be fair, I used to lean on it a bit when when standing around shootin the breeze, so that didn't help. It just coulda been designed better.

Maybe they should name em Cue Purses, not Cue Cases.. Above is FUNNY.... :)

My case is a cowboy style no name brand case. I like it alot, only complaint would be the big pocket could be a little bigger as well as the small pocket.

Biggest complaint is there isn't a hereck, bender, capone, dpk, or scruggs in it.

This is a topic I can speak at length on. I have had George cases and they would have to be loaded a certian way becuase its either shafts up and butt down or butt up and shafts down. The whole thing sucked!

I have had a cheap 3X5 vinyl case that is so common. I bought it because I hated taking the nice leather one to the pool room and watching it get knocked down and scratched all the time. The cues in the tube cases stick or get trapped from time to time and I am always flipping the case up side down to get the cues out.

I put these new butt caps on my cues and all of a sudden I can not get the cues out of the case as the caps are embedded in the case.

The tube and leather case I bought years ago is a Curtis case and was out before Jack Justis popped onto the seen. It was too nice for the wear and tear and abuse. Additonally, the pockets were small and pre dated jump cues or the need for cell phones. Now, thats old!

I have two old hard flip cases and they are by far the best. Only problem, they only hold one butt two shafts on one and the other holds 2 butts 2 shafts on the other.

I like the longoni cases that flip open. A local yocal has one and is going to unload it. I am planning on picking it up. The only gripe is there is no should strap. I attended the trade show years ago and have a old case strap for my fellini that may be used around the flip case to care on my shoulder. I am that desperate I am think of ways of modifying sh$t to work!

The flat case does not have the pockets I desire. But, I had to give that some thought. The case is made out of hard abs and when the case is empty and I have taken my cues out to play. The space inside it will allow me to empty my Keys, Cell Phone, Pocket change and etc into the body of the case. That is my biggest pet peeve is the keys jabbing me when I am leaning across the table. I CANT PLAY WITH THAT STUFF JABBING ME!!!

I have figured out how to scale back my pool knick knacks. I got the talc sponge for space considerations. Tip shaper, glove, chalk, Bridge head & 600 sand paper cut into small sheets and thats it! About to add slip stick or shaft magic! I bought a jump break combo to conslidate and reguire less space.

I have grown my cue collection to 4 cues. I would like to be able to carry all 4 and select which one is better for the conditions or location I am playing. SOme places have really fast cloth and my regular cue putts to much squirt on the balls and is miserable to play with on super fast conditions.

I have a really thin shaft Scruggs that I like for tight pocket tables. I get more control with linen wrap vs. leather and thick shafts.

I have one that is really heavy and spongy. Plays great of fast tables. I like to get to each location and determine what is best! These cases do not allow that many cues and the ones that do, They are way too HEAVY!

So, all in all I am stuck. On an earlier tread they mentioned this case company was making one and was contacted. I hope they make one and incorporate these comments. A 4X8 abs flip case with strap and handle would be the cats MEOW.

I have a Porper 4 cue holder that is about half an inch too big for the pocket in my case, this really makes me mad. I have to carry it around seperately and have almost lost it about ten times.

I know I could buy a Porper case, because it would fit, but I like everything else about my case.
 
My biggest problem with my instroke 2x4 is that my main playing cue is 59 in and it will not fit. The nails coming loose at the bottom are also an issue but they have not came out yet. I also have another leather cowboy case that will barely accomodate the 59 in cue but it is heavier than the instroke. So I usually end up using my porper 3x6 because the cue will fit along with my break cue and another cue that I always end up having for sale.
 
You didn't mention ...

Brian ... What kind of case you have, evidently it doesn't have a big
pocket. I have found that a Q-Claw 2 cue holder works just fine,
and is smaller than other cue holders. (you can always lean another
cue against it from the side if needed).

And you're signature saying, I would say you have to make the
hard shots when you need to, and you have to never miss easy shots
to win.
 
Only the Silver Fox BR-2 has adequate storage space and then only with the stiffners removed.
 
Case experience...

I've carried cues in everything over the years...first was a hard oval, no individual tubes, no pockets...kept my butt and shaft seperated with a piece of chalk...that sucked; then I bought a Porper 2x4 for my Meucci, nice case, my only complaint would be that the tubes would not release the butt and shaft easily, wasn't unusual to see me beating it upside down on the floor to get my sticks out...now I have a Instroke Buffalo 3x5 that I love, my only gripe here would be that the pockets should be gussetted to be a little more square/rectanguler...it would give you a little more depth in each pocket...
 
It would be nice to have many different large zipper pouches for various things. Righ now I have everything in one large pouch and I have to go "digging" to find what I am looking for.

I have my cue and tip maintenance stuff.

Then I have my note paper, pen, pencil, pencil sharpener, league ID cards, rules books, etc.

Then allergy medicine, cough drops, etc.

Then cue rest, chalk holders, chalk, etc.

Then quarters.
 
All I want is a LIGHTWEIGHT case that protects my cues very well. I am trying out a 3x6 Silver Fox next. My 2x2 and 2x4 Porpers so far have been great. If the fox does not work out, I may go with a leather 2x4 Porper, just to have a nice case for once. Right now I have 6 cases at my house with another two on the way! OYE...my wife is gonna whip me!
