> When I first met Russ,he was going around to tournaments and poolrooms selling his cues. His earliest cues looked a LOT like plain Meucci's,and played like a Meucci SHOULD,but with better materials. Not bad,but not great. About a year later,he showed up with some new ones. A friend bought a plain birdseye SS joint, and it hit VERY nice, similar to a late 80's Joss,or Schon. He had gotten away from the flat-faced joint by then, but was still using the 5/16-18 pin, then changed to a 14 a couple years later.
His 4 point cues are on par playability wise with SS joint Motteys,Scruggs, and McDaniels.
His finish work is top-shelf,and damn quick. A friend has sent him 2 cues for refins, and had both back in a week, both flawless.
He's a good guy to deal with, and honest.
Incidentally, the best break cue I've ever used was one of his,a pau ferro/maple house cue conversion with just a piloted phenolic collar,no collar on the shaft. With that cue,I couldn't do anything BUT squat the cue ball on the break. It belonged to someone else, and before I had a chance to buy it,it was broken in an accident with a drunk woman,LOL. Tommy D.
