I saw Jeff playing out of the Red Shoes in a sub of Chicago a while back along with Piggy Banks.

The name escapes me, although it used to be Pee Wee Carroll's place. Now, it has all new Diamonds, full 24 hour kitchen, and a fresh crop of players every time they are stationed there. BJ Fitzsimmons and the Railroad guy ( his name escaped me also. I'm getting old) are in on it, too.

Speaking of pool playing truck drivers we had a player in Ohio years ago named Kenny "The Trucker" McCoy he used to drive for Kroger's I heard he played lights out. wonder how well he played and if he is still alive?

I agree! I just started playing about a year ago. I had heard of him before then, but never really knew him. Just watching him play is the most amazing thing. I couldn't imagine what he was like in his prime. He's my idol, for sure. He is also an amazing guy.
He says he doesn't play when he's on the road. Hearing stories from back in the day just makes me want to go back in time and watch! lol We played some 1 and 2 dollar pea pool/kelly a few weeks back and we made him play right handed. He still won.(I won more than him though, but only because i ran two racks in a row for $20 a pop.) Its crazy how good he plays with only shooting every once in a while and not having any good tables here. Got any stories or anything that I can ask him about?

Ask him about the time he played Jimmy Wetch. I got the story from Jimmy and I still can't believe it.
 
I sure will huckster. I'm not sure when I will see him though. Maybe Saturday if the company doesn't keep him away from home. He usually comes home on Friday or Saturday.

He was good friends with the actor David Keith, who used to back him in some big money games. David came to a few tourneys Smokey played in back in the early 90's.

Well I saw Buster tonight. I asked him about the time he played Jimmy Wetch. He just laughed and looked at me and said "I gave him the six and annihilated him." I asked him how much and he said "Fifty dollars a game for $3600." WOW! Is this the same story Jimmy told you, huckster? EDIT: Buster also said he was playing as good as he ever did at this time.

He didn't tell me I seen it I couldn't believe it to this day. He broke Jimmy the Kid at a time when Jimmy played 9ball as well as anyone in the U.S. All jimmy said afterwards was this guy doesn't know who he is playing. It was one of those times where someone outruns the nuts. I am glad I didn't get a side bet side bet down I woulda went busto. There was aboulutly no buisness going on either I watched Buster keep Jimmy in the chair for 10-12 games straight then freeze the cueball behind a ball and win 7 ot 8 more games in a row.
 
Haha... They said the man was amazing back then. There is a story about him playing Archer in a tournament. Johnny had the winners bracket and Buster had the losers bracket. Johnny had him 10-0 in the first set and hooked Buster on the 5. Buster kicked the five in and ran that rack along with 21 more to win the tournament. Anyone else ever heard that one? I'd pay so much money to have that on video.

It didn't quite go that way. Although Buster came back from way down to win the first set and then he won the second set something like 11-1. The story got stretched a little.
 
I figured it did... Thanks for the post. Can you explain how it happened as far as you can remember?

I got the story from Johnny. He just said the guy took over and he never got back to the table. He may have had a couple of shots and a kick or two.
 
Thanks Jay. Well he's supposed to be getting a nine foot in his house sometime soon. I can't wait for that day. Cause I know that if he shoots a little bit more he can still hang with most.
