What have you had to sacrifice to get better at pool?

Most times I know my playing ability, but to get to the next level I am starting to think differently. Athletes call it hitting a plateau. To get to the next level I need advice from people that have made it there.

So I ask, "What have you had to sacrifice to get better at pool?"

SO you want to be a Great Pool Player, do like most of the GREATS DID. Give up a normal life, job, family, girl friend, boy friend, play, and practice POOL 12 - 14 Hours A Day, 7 Days a Week. Sleep in your car if you have one when you are busted. Hope you make the Big Time!

Coco had an interesting answer because at the pool table can be when those "other things in life creep into my mind as being problems." Once those things are gone they shouldn't be problems for me or in my mind when playing the table.

JustPlay has the answer I hear most frequently time.

Why are you asking this here, since you'll be lucky to get even one response from someone "who's made it there"?

The DCC is coming up. I'd suggest you go there, corner some of the pros in the hallway, and ask them.

Me, I've given up nothing. Pool is just one of many things I enjoy doing. Fact is, I've given up pool at times to pursue more important things like college, a career, marriage and fatherhood.

But I'm not one of the guys you're asking. :D

I am learning to play the odds, it is a career related skill building exercise.

didnt go to the movies for over 10 years at one point in my life, and thats just the tip of the ice berg.

You werent missing anything..

good to know thanks:thumbup:, infact i stopped going to the movies again for the past 10 or so years for that reason, they suck nowdays. H-Wood is in trouble, different topic but the internet has changed pool, movies, h-wood, music, job market etc etc etc forever.

Justnum where do you play? I think you are in California. Do you have a real name you would like to share?

If you'd stop posting on here and just played pool your game would skyrocket.

I went to a crossroad near Dockery Plantation in Mississippi at midnight. It was there that I gave him what he required of me.

You met Ole Scratch (appropriate name) and traded the George B for pool lessons.

My Free Time,, if it was to interfere with the up bringing of my children, or put a strain on my marriage, I wouldnt play the game no longer..

Life is to long to spend it alone, yet to short to spend it in one place,, Time is the most valuable asset ,, so spend it wisely !!!
