Hey I was thinking of buying a Sneaky Pete cue. I am getting ready to get in a league and am going to put a good shaft on my elite to play there but I want a cue that I can use when playing with people who don't know I am in a league. For instance if I go to play with my old buddies from college I don't really want to bring in a flashy cue but I want a good cue. So I want to get a sneaky pete however I don't want to spend a lot of money on it.

I have read great things about players and lucasi sneaky pete cues (more about the players sneaky pete) but I was wondering is the lucasi really that much better than the player sneaky pete cues to justify the high price?

Or if there is another sneaky pete that you guys think is a better value please suggest it.

Thanks

AF

I would totally recommend the Lucasi Sneaky Pete, it's a no brainer. It has a nice hit, and soft joint that lets you really feel the cue action.

I played with one that was a hand-me-down for a couple years, and it was always plenty of cue to do the job. I recommend that you never break with it... I did so a few times... One too many times, and something came loose unfortunately.

It is plenty durable, but I am a solid breaker so eventually it was a bit too much. Maybe it was just bad luck. But even then I passed it on to somebody and they continued to used it to earn many wins.

I would say next in line would be the old 4-point Predator Sneaky Pete with a wood-joint, but it will cost twice as much... It's worth it though if you are planning to play for long time.

I dont know how much your willing to spend but:

That it best sneaky pete you can get IMO...if it is past your budget i would suggest the players sneaky pete over the lucasi.

Wow that looks awesome however it is out of my price range for now. If I get some money I will buy it in the future at this point if a few others suggest the players then it's had to say no to a good cue that only cost $40 or $50.

If you are looking to buy a Chinese import cue, Action makes a great Sneaky Pete in the $50 to $60 range.

They have a 5/16-18 pin the same pin that was used a Heubler, I have sold many of these cues and they play great for the money.

The Players are great in this price range.

Saving your money obviously isn't a solution since you wouldn't have a cue. You could always get a cheap cue, save up, then sell the cheap cue or make it your break cue.

J&J used to sell great sneakies but I don't know what they are like now. I got one in about 1998 that has a piloted joint and it's a great cue.

In that price range there are many, but the shaft and ferrule is the thing...some are better, many are crap. If you can nail down an old Dufferin sneaky I think that would be best, but they are going up in price and probably out of your 40-50 range unless you find a good deal.

My father actualy has an old dufferin maybe he would le me use his sometimes.

My friend has a players sneaky pete, and I use it sometimes in league cause it hits really good. Also, id you had a few extra bucks, billiard warehouse has schmelke sneaky petes for $90ish and is made in usa (if that matters to you). I don't think you could go wrong with either cue.

Esoteric Cue by Rick in Chi-town. His taper is very strong produces a monster hit. It is not a cheap cue. My friend plays with one.

:yeah: I actually picked up one of these Action cues yesterday. It's super goofy looking with ads to the sneakyness. Shoots freaking awesome for the $69

I have one Action cue that I got for nothing....

The shaft is warped so bad it is "S" shaped, I have no idea if that is typical for them.

Agree with this. I sold many of the Action SP's. The only issue I had was that some didn't ship with a butt cap and they would occasionally split. I suspect it was due to players slamming the cue down on the floor.

LOL! Yeah...hence the purpose of a butt cap and bumper!

I didn't mean to trash on Action with my post...it's just the only one I have experience with.

Whatever you get bring it to a cue repair professional to get a good tip installed then have the shaft sealed before you use it unless you want it to get dirty LOL.

Get a Players for around $60, under 50 if you watch for a sell.
Love my Players. I've had it over 7 years. Play and break with it several hours every week still straight as an arrow.

I love the feel of wood and prefer nothing on my shaft so sanded the finish coating off. Hasn't effected it's straightness one bit.
