What is the best way to clean a blue shaft

From the OB Cues web site:

OB-1 Cue Shaft Cleaning and Conditioning

Care and Maintenance of the OB-1 Cue Shaft is really not any different than other cue shafts.

Here is how we do it:

We start by removing the surface dirt and hand oils. This is most easily done with a mild abrasive like the dark side of the OB Cues Q Wiz shaft conditioner. Remember, it only takes a couple of passes! You don’t want to sand away the wood!
Next we clean the cue shaft using a Mr. Clean Magic Eraser, available at your local grocery store, soaked lightly with denatured alcohol. Denatured alcohol is available at the hardware store. We use it instead of rubbing alcohol because it has less water in it. Rub the eraser up and down the shaft until it is clean.

The magic eraser will clean the shaft, but it will also raise the grain slightly. You will need to lightly sand the shaft with a very fine abrasive like the light side of the OB Cues Q Wiz. Use this to burnish the shaft back smooth. You should then seal the cue shaft using a quality cue sealer or wax.

I use Q-CLEAN myself.

FWIW ... the best way is to never let it get real ugly to begin with, so I use it about every other month.

Another idea I've seen that works is a friend of mine uses some chalk that is beige and when it gets in the wood it's still the same color more or less. I don't like the way it plays compared to regular blue chalk however.
