What is the Most Ill-Conceived Pool Product You Have Ever Come Across?

............................................... WHY WOULD THEY DO SUCH A THING!

Heretics...

Epic fail.

Oh, the round pool table is also horrid.
Where can I get one?

I had a guy call me an idiot last week because I would not install a screw-on tip/ferrule on his McDermott.

:)

I had a guy ask me one day how much I charget to replace a tip. When I told him, he reached into his pocket, pulled out 4 screw-on tips and said, "go ahead and put LePros on all of them".

I swear, that's a true story!!!!

Actually joint protectors are not for the pin but for the edges of the joint. Can't chip the edge if its covered. (

Thank you. If one doesn't like them fine, but anyone calling a joint protector the most ill conceived pool product they have ever come across does not understand what they are for, and has never owned a cue they care about for a decade and then taken it out to see if there are any ticks or chips in the edges of the joints.

What do you guys think, does this thing belong in the thread or is there something legit behind it?

http://www.pooldawg.com/product/limbsaver-x-1-pool-cue-stick-stabilizer

Supposedly this super special buttcap reduces vibration on impact. It claims to leave the tip on the ball longer but I have no idea why one would desire this... and even if it's true we're talking fractions of milleseconds.

If the vibration dampening is enough to actually change the "hit" of the cue so that it feels nicer to hit balls with it, I guess it isn't TOTALLY useless. My feeling is that if you can fix the cue's hit with a different buttcap, maybe you shoulda gone with a better-hitting cue in the first place.

I do NOT think a buttcap can improve your ability to correctly apply english, which is one of their claims (along with "the greatest invention since the leather tip").

I DO think "Buttcaps" would be a great name for a pool hall.

My personal favorite is the brass cube with a hinged top that holds a piece of chalk. Utterly useless.

The Worst!

Pool cue/walking stick combinations. Awful by design - what numbskull would want sonething like that to begin with?

Also Awful

Forgot to mention the tan and beige glen plain cloth covering the tables at a pool hall in Big Rapids Michigan when I went to College there. UNBELIEVABLE!!!!!!!!!!!

It's kind of goofy but, old timers might remember the pool apron! Made from felt with pockets in front to hold the chalk and tip tapper etc. Designed to keep your trousers clean when you lean across the table. Eliminates that chalk like across the upper leg area. Still have one somewhere around here.

lol lambada.

(someone will get it)

I was surprised to see someone say joint protectors because I thought I was the only one who thought they were kinda useless. I've never seen a cue get its joint somehow ruined. If it does, someone must be treating it rough or it must be poorly manufactured.

Before you guys get too far off on joint protectors let me toss in an opposing view. First, I don't think the joint screw is going to get damaged or bent in any way shape or form without some sort of abuse of the cue going on. With that said, drops happen. Even with a drop I'm not too worried about the pin getting bent *BUT* with a joint protector on there at least the finish around the joint doesn't get dinged up or the edge of the joint itself won't get scratches all over it. I've seen so many cues that don't have JP's that have finish damage around the shaft edge of the joint. Sorry, my cues are expensive, I don't want them getting scratched up if I can avoid it.

As for worst product??? Chalk on a chain or string or whatever that clips to your belt.
