The next level is rough, it's Level 9 and you must save the Princess from the fire breathing dragon....

I have to be honest with you. If you can beat the ghost in a race to 7, on demand, then you're playing at a pro, or near pro level already.
As far as 14.1...There is not an enormous difference in being able to run 40 in straight pool and running 80-100...it's mostly about getting from one rack to another (and if you're running 40, that means you've gotten through at least two break shots...I'm also assuming that you mean REAL 14.1, and not taking b-i-h for each new rack).
To answer your question, you should be (if you can) getting yourself entered in a couple of events at the DCC. That is one of the best opportunities to see how your game stacks up against the best...and a great place to put yourself under some serious pressure! It's a reasonably cheap opportunity, and you'll see the best players in all games! If you can't go there, then get into some regional events wherever you live (Joss Tour, Viking Tour, etc.). That will give you some chances to play some good players (pressure), and not have to travel too far to do it.
One other suggestion...you can take some advanced lessons from a qualified instructor, who can take a look at how you strategize and move through the rack(s). That can be a great help in analyzing your actual playability...but doesn't necessarily help with dealing with pressure. I find that pressure is best mitigated by having complete 'trust' in your stroke. When you know that you can stroke the CB exactly where you want to, how you want to, that increases confidence by a vast margin. That, in itself, helps dealing with pressure situations. But the real test is combat...whether tournament play or gambling.

Maybe he could hook up with Solly to find the bigger events in Europe?
trustyrusty said:the next LEVEL is an overused sports cliche. It's good to set personal goals for yourself, but reaching them, to me, isn't getting to the "next level". The only other level that you can get to is beating EVERYONE consistantly (not always, nobodys perfect). Right now in golf - Tiger's the NEXT LEVEL, and even though he can be beaten, nobody can do it consistantly.....being the BEST at something is the next level, everyone else is either just improving, or worsening. Now that I think about it....you could be the worst at something and jump up a level of no longer worst, then make the next level of best.....probably has never happened though. So, keep on improving, and there won't be any need to tell us that you made it to the next level, cuz anyone who cares will know when you get there.![]()

ShootingArts said:Assuming you have reached this level fairly quickly, you are at the level where gains in your physical game come in pretty small increments, you rarely make a big jump in shot making. However developing superior strategy, increasing the depth of your focus, and even the mental toughness to keep fighting can probably still be improved. Unless you truly feel that you are still in a match until the last ball falls regardless of who you are playing, now is the time to focus more on the mental aspects of the game.
