2013 International Cue Collector Show (ICCS) Special Collection
I'm just curious what's this year's theme....
Hi Jive,
The 2013 International Cue Collector Show (ICCS) will be held in Atlanta at the Westin Buckhead Hotel, and will be open to the public on Saturday, October 19. A more comprehensive announcement will be forthcoming in the very near future.
2013 SPECIAL COLLECTION: THE WRAPLESS COLLECTION
This year`s Special Collection will be comprised of an exceptional gathering of Wrapless designed cues, called the Wrapless Cues Special Collection. Guidelines for the Special Collection cues which were sent to the ICCS cuemakers are:
• The selection of woods to be used in the Wrapless Cue must include ebony, amboyna burl and curly (or birdseye) maple. This particular combination of woods will allow for a wide range of innovation and creativity with the mix and integration of the dark, medium and light colored woods.
• No particular restriction is placed on the cuemaker other than the inclusion of these three types of woods in the construction of the cue.
• Other materials (silver, ivory, mother of pearl, semi-precious stones, etc.) certainly can be used at cuemaker`s discretion as part of the cue design.
• The inscription 2013 ICCS Special Collection must be applied to the buttcap in a way that is readable and visible when the cue is hanging vertically.
• The cue is to have two shafts and a set of matching joint protectors.
• Please bring documentation with your cue as part of the submittal to the set. This paperwork will be displayed as part of the set in Atlanta (Buckhead). We request the document, not to exceed one typewritten page in length, to include some thoughts you formulated as you settled on your design and a complete description of the materials used in building the cue. It is very important that you bring this with you to the show.
• Participation in the set is voluntary for cuemakers. Each cuemaker electing to participate in the development is to let me know by email by May 15 so a record is known of the size of this Special Collection.
• As usual, the creative juices and excellence in construction that have been present in all Special Collections to date will certainly have all ICCS attendees eagerly awaiting the unveiling of this very unique and special set of cues.
These cues will be auctioned individually in a silent auction which ends on Saturday afternoon, as we have done in the past. If anyone has a question about the Special Collection, or the ICCS in general, please send me a PM. Thanks.
Will Prout
