What Is Your Favorite Music For Playing Pool?

Wow, nice selections Lisa. It's nice to see another (real) Little Feat fan out there. I've been known to leave Dixie Chicken (and Time Loves a Hero) in the cars CD player for weeks on end ... Feats don't ever fail me ;)

I'll bet you're an Edgar Winter fan as well.

Dave

Yep ;)

I am definitely a product of the 70's college radio station/FM scene. Huge Tull, Floyd, Who, Bowie fan as well. Throw alittle Uriah Heep, Wishbone Ash and Savoy Brown for measure.
Big 70's southern rock nut too: Skynrd, Allman Bros, Stillwater, Molly Hatchett, .38 Special.

I am all over the map, depending on my mood:

'Damn Right I Got the Blues!' Buddy Guy..the whole thing
Anything by SRV
Blues, basically...love the stuff!

Lisa

If this is all true, you would love Roy Buchanan!

I love to play with pretty much any kind of hard rock or blues in the background. If the music gets to much I've always been able to tune it out. Since most who've posted say rock....I know what music I'll bring to play on a boombox if we ever match up...... Classical Baroque! :D

Sinatra was one I totally forgot to mention! I love him music...ever since i started hanging around Capone's Billiards in Springhill. The owner is Italian and from NY. He got me into it! Then, just the other day a friend from the pool hall (77 year old) was telling me about this book he's reading on Sinatra's life...it sounds great...

Tell Rocky Big Steve sends his regards!!!;)

What's funny about me is I was raised in the hood for a long time, then moved out to the country. So, my choices in music are odd to most...

I can relate to these lyrics, because I grew up around hustlers and thugs:

Gotta watch er' move 'cuz them eyes be on you (eyes be on you)
Gotta dry real cool when them pies be on you (pies be on you)
Just because we stack paper and we ball outrageous (ball outrageous)
Them alphabet boards gotta us under survalence (Ayy)
(Lock Downs) They lock us in cages
The same nigga that's a star when you put 'em on stages
I aint cheat--played the hand I was dealt
Tried to tax the grand pearl when I got it myself
(Let's Get It) No nuts, no glory (no glory)
My biography, you damn right, the true story (Yeah)
Set the city on fire, and I didn't even try (try)
Run these streets all day, I can sleep when I die (Ayy)

Bridge (Akon):
'Cuz if you lookin' for me you you can find me
On the block disobeyin' the law
Real G--therobred from the streets
Pants saggin' with my gun in my draws
Just to keep on movin' out
Just to keep on movin' out

but at the same time I can relate to lyrics like these:

Well in the town where I was raised,
the clock ticked and the cattle grazed
Time passed with amazing grace,
Back where I come from

You can lie on a river bank,
paint your name on a water tank
Miscount all the beers you drank,
Back where I come from

[Chorus]

Back where I come from
Where I'll be when its said and done
I'm proud as anyone
That's where I come from

We learned in Sunday school,
who made the sun shine through
I know who made the moon shine too,
Back where I come from

It is wierd because both of those are from two copletely different worlds, and ways of life.

Yeah... Pink Floyd (or Pnik Fylod) can get a guy into a nice groove, huh?

I have been following your picks of music and it sound like we are in agreement
on bands,songs,and musicians

personally ,when I know I am about to shoot I load up

Pink Floyd - DSOM is my favorite but they all will do
Lynyrd Skynyrd
Steve Miller Band
Bob Seger
Credence Clearwater Revival
KISS - before they lost the makeup in the early days
Bread
Led Zeppelin - I'll play the whole deal 1 2 3 & 4 that usually pisses off the kiddies LOL and sometimes 1/2 the bar
Fleetwood Mac

Man the list goes on, When there is no music playing at my pool shootin' establishment all I need to do is just threaten to play the jukebox and it will play all nite long w/o me putting in a penny .....LOL

Ratchet - flower child:)

Most any low volume background music

I do not like loud volume music of any kind while I'm awaiting my next match.
If I get in the "zone", as they say, I do not hear anything.

My choice for background music is "ABBA".

"Have a nice day",
Lamar

AC/DC Bon Scott era... mastered bluesy heavy metal

Any metal.. from ACDC / Zepplin, Damageplan, Pantera...

Joe (---Pool / snooker is shown on the Australian release of Dirty Deeds.. just FYI
