I have been playing with a Kamui Black Super Soft on my Predator Z2 shaft for about 2 weeks now. After about 2 hours of play it did mushroom pretty bad. I took off a few layers and ever since the tip has been perfect. This shaft and tip combo is great. I have more CB control than ever before. I don't see this tip being replaced by anything else in the near future.
Have played a lot with a medium, just a few racks with a SS. The SS is a very unusual tip indeed - more springy than soft (although it's definitely soft).
I think Preds lend themselves to harder tips generally, to counteract the hollowness of the hit, but I think a SS could be a lot of fun on the right cue, especially for soft screw and other delicate positional shots.
I tried Kamui SS black on my Lambros LD shafts and I've gone through
3 tips with each initially mushrooming badly, then once that was
corrected they all glazed over badly.
I have gone back to Hercules medium and they work great.
I had used hard Triangle tips for years on Predator shafts and like them a lot.
Recently tried a medium Water Buffalo Talisman and really like it so far.Plays much like a hard Triangle. It hits hard, but you can feel it bite the cue ball,
Wow....a couple or three years ago a large number of posters would have sworn by the Sniper tip (not a single one has been mentioned yet). A year or two before that, Moori mediums would have gotten the most thumbs-up. Today, the Kamui black tips (in mostly medium to super-soft) are getting all the kudos. I wonder what new amazing tips will come out next that will not only play better than their predecessors, but will also cost at least 50% more (all for a few tiny bits of leather and a miniscule amount of glue)?
In my opinion Triangle hard's are the best tip for a Predator shaft.Problem is finding a good one, through out a whole box I may find 5 for me and 5 for friends, and that's a good box!
