surprising all the 8b hatred out there.

The game I hate the most wasn't on the list, namely 7-ball. I only saw people play it in a pool room (as opposed to on TV) once and it was no better than the stupid TV game. It's like 9 ball for reta... erm, slow people, which itself is like rotation for slow people.

I don't have much fun playing 1P but I think it's cuz I just lack the moves and finesse. I can see HOW it would be a lot of fun, but I really enjoy running balls... playing 17 safeties and then running 5 balls doesn't do it for me.

Bar Room 8-ball is my least favorite. The bars around here all have different rules that they play by, so if you happen to want to play in you have to stop and think about which bar you are in and which rules they use. I wish they would all just use BCA rules and that would get rid of a large number of misunderstandings between players.

Ditto. If it wasn't for the fact that I'm usually in the money, I wouldn't play in bar tournaments at all.

Just curious- why do so many of you hate cutthroat? I never thought of it as a serious game, but I think it has it's place. We play it a fair amount on my basement home table when there are three of us, especially with friends/family who don't really play much pool.

Never played one pocket or rotation. I love the idea of bank pool, but I suck at banking so that one's the most frustrating for me.

And I don't mind 8 ball, but agree with others here that everyone seems to have their own set of rules.

1 hole....i just never ever in 20+ years of playing have ever gotten the game discipline down. I don't have the patience to play it, no matter who has tried to teach me. For some reason i LOVE straight pool but my friends who come here don't like it, only real time i get to play is when Jeeves stops by.

As someone above posted, so long as we are hitting the balls it can't be all that bad. :)

For me, I enjoy the least, any game that the numbers of the balls dictate what shot is next. (aside that is from a full 15 ball rotation game 4 handed which I just get a kick out of)

I like the creativity of games like straight pool and one pocket. Even 8 ball allows you to create your run out more abstractly than 9 or 10 ball.

cut throat

Cut throat isn't a game in my opinion, but if you have a few women around in a private home and can get them to play strip cut throat :D then is ok.Otherwise ten ball is all I play. With a little bank pool when we get bored or ten ball.On a money game I'll play them all but definetly have preferences.

Well for me even though I never really took it as a serious game I think that in and of itself is the problem I have with it. When I'm playing whether in a tournament, with a few bucks or beers on the line or just for fun I want to try hard and win each and every time. Playing a gimmick game with my family or friends that don't play pool that much doesn't hold my attention. The only time it might be slightly entertaining is if you are playing with a couple other decent players and you play you can make your own and keep shooting as long as you get out.

OK...I'll bite. What is the difference between 8-Ball and Chicago 8-Ball? I googled, but found nothing.
