What is your tip diameter?

What is your preferred tip diameter for your playing shafts? Not trying to start a tip diameter debate, just curious about what the rest of you like.

At this point in my life I seem to have settled on a 12.5 tip diameter. I have one 12.75 shaft that I just can't seem to get used to. I will give it awhile longer and if not, then back out for a 12.5 taper job.

Mine range from 13.5 to 11.75.
I've pretty much settled in on the 12.25 as my playing shaft(s) ... 13 for my break.

I really do like my 11.75 - and as my quality of play goes back up, I seem to be working back down in size. I think the smaller tips are able to do more and be more accurate - but are less forgiving when it comes to mistakes. Just IMHO.

Can't stand my 12,75mm anymore.

Using 9mm Snooker-style ash shaft exclusively now

Be careful you don't stab yourself...

My shafts range from 12 mm to 12.2....carom tapered.

Interesting...pool shafts, right? Not some weird contranadian game?

The thing i really hate about my thinner shafts is the flimsy feel. I guess tat conical taper will clear that issue right up.

Hmmmmm...i must need more shafts.

13.5, with a stiffer than normal taper and ivory ferrule. Let's just say it's not LD...

My shafts have a stronger hit than a pro tapered 13 mm....and more guts than an LD.
....since the late 70s, I've been buying top cues, taking the ivory ferrulles right off...
...dowel and all....and having them pointed to twelves.

I was low deflection before it was cool....although not the only one.

Actually, the question should be, what is the tip diameter, and what kind of shaft taper do you have. One, not taking into account the other doesn't do it.

All the best,
WW

One 12.5, one 12.75. I switch between the two.

Not a single shaft I have in my cue collection is larger than 13.1 mm and none are smaller than 12.72mm.
I have an electronic calipers to verify the shaft sizes and electronic scale for verifying weight.

p.s. As observed by WildWing in post #17, shaft taper on my cues tends to be around 15-16" and shaft
weights are all at least 3.85 ozs & most are 4.0 ozs. or heavier. Tips are Kamui Clear Black (soft hardness).
